Default push fold quiz - The results are in!!!!!

Let’s see how good everyone is at making +ev push/fold decisions. Using the following guidelines try to determine if the below hands are:

    A) Clear fold (less than or equal to 0.0% $EV)
    B) Clear Push (greater than or equal to 0.5% $EV)

Don't use SNGPT, SNG WIZ or any other tool to get your answers. Instead, imagine this is a live tourney and you have to make this decision without any tools.

Once you have posted your guesses please don't make corrections until others have had a chance to take the quiz.

For the following hands assume all players’ calling ranges are 66+,ATs+,AJo+

So far we have had the following scores:

    2 - 4 out of 10
    1 - 5 out of 10
    2 - 6 out of 10
    3 - 7 out of 10
    1 - 8 out of 10

I will give everyone another day or two to respond then will compile the answers so we can discuss the ones that were missed the most.

    1.Fold
    2.Push
    3.Close...but I'll say fold
    4.Fold
5.Push (larger blinds matter more than difference in cards)
6.Real play = Fold...but I think that BB's calling range is ATC for 90% of players, so I'm not really even answering the question you asked as it's not relevant IMO. Also, it depends on how aggressively the biggies will try to eliminate shorty.

With the ranges you posted, it's probably a shove because everyone is so tight.
7.Probably fold. Depends on how biggies play against shorty.
    8.Push.
    9.Push.
    10.Push.

Great thread man. Ugh I'm going to show myself up here, but here goes:

    1. Push
    2. Instapush
    3. With a calling range of 66+, ATs+, AJo I suspect this one is very marginal, but then again I doubt they all call this tight. In a game I shove this everytime but in this exercise it is probably not over +0.5% EV, so I say fold.
    4. Fold
    5. Push with the big stacks calling so tight. Note that ICM is slightly out in this situation because it overvalues your stack if you push, get called and lose
    6. In a game this is an instafold but I suspect given how tight you have the big stacks calling (do they never call with 99 or AQo?) this is a push
    7. Fold with the microstack about to eat the BB next hand
    8. Instashove
    9. This one is close, but with tight calling ranges I vote shove
    10. Probably fold given we are shoving into the megastack, but another close one.

OK, we had 14 people take the quiz with results ranging from 4 out of 10 to one person (guess who) who got 10 out of 10. Below are the answers with how many respondents got that particular answer correct.

Now we can start the discussion on those that most people missed and why the answer is different.

    1 - Push +0.5% ev 10 out of 14 correct
    2 - Push +0.8% ev All 14 correct
    3 - Fold -0.1% ev 6 out of 14 correct
    4 - Fold -0.0% ev 13 out of 14 correct
    5 - Push +0.5% ev 8 out of 14 correct
    6 - Push +0.6% ev 2 out of 14 correct
    7 - Fold -0.0% ev 9 out of 14 correct
    8 - Push +2.7% ev All 14 correct
    9 - Push +0.5% ev 11 out of 14 correct
    10 - Fold -0.2% ev 5 out of 14 correct

I will start out the discussion by noting that on question 6 the two people that got it correct also stated that if BB's calling range was ATC (which is probably would be) that this would be a fold instead of a push.

Hand 4-5 - With realistic ranges for BB this would be a fold right? I would think the calling range would be close to 40% (22+,A2s+,K4s+,Q6s+,J7s+,T7s+,97s+,87s,A2o+,K8o+,Q 8o+,J8o+,T8o+,98o)

Hand 6 - I can't see how BB won't call with ATC. A fold would leave them with 150 chips...100 of which will be in the SB next hand.
