Then don't raise this hand in the first place when there are shorties behind you. If you try to steal the blinds you should aleady have a plan for what to do if one of the short stacks goes all-in.

This is really close. I think if he's really bad I'd call, if he's pretty bad I'd fold, and if he's good I'd call.

I agree with Mcat and would add that if I feel I will have to fold to the shorties I will just open fold here. If I'm going to play raised pot with the big stack I would rather have something like an sc than A8.

So basically if I don't have any reads on the short stack I shouldn't steal with that hand because he might bring me into a marginal situation?

mcat is spot on here - telling people to think one move ahead seems easy enough, but not as easy to do.

I still find myself regressing to the "I have an A in late position and know I need to be aggressive to win, so I'm gonna raise here" without looking at who I am raising against.

One way I have found of patching this leak is by recording myself when I play because it forces me to explain every move I am doing.

You should always have a reason to steal. If you are raising and are going to fold to a reraise then just do it with 72o. You're in MP with a decent stack and the table isn't exactly short so I don't think that you really need to steal. Also, you are attacking blinds that have healthy stacks. Why would you want to attack them?

Generally, you want the blinds to have 10M stacks so that they have either a decision to fold or push. They can't call because they would be calling more than 10% of their stack and pretty much committed.

The prim time to steal is when the majority of the stacks at the table have 10M stacks or when you can add >10% to your stack.

You're getting close to 2-1. It wouldn't be a bad call even if you put him on a range of like 10%.
