    Default $5+.50 18 Player (Pocket 8's)

NOTE: I didn't use the hand history converter because I don't have enough posts to link to web sites (which contain the graphics for the cards).

Hi, I'm still relatively new to hold'em and I'm sure I probably made the wrong move here. The Button had been relatively quiet and I was pretty sure he had some type of hand, but I couldn't discount it being a standard blind steal, even if into the huge stack in the SB. What should I have done? Folded? Just called? Thanks.

I would have called the raise and folded on that flop if he bet out. Even if he's raising just to steal if he's tight he probably at least has overcards to 88. Don't think it's worth it that early in a tourny.

This is what I was thinking although I'm wondering if some folks might suggest you fold preflop.

Too early to push for certain though...especially with 88.

    TT+ I might consider it.

    fold if it's the bubble

    shove if not

Thanks, all. This wasn't the bubble -- it was at one of the satellite tables of an 18 player tournament. Playing mid-pocket pairs gives me more fits than anything. It seemed like an awful lot to pay to see a flop, yet I found it hard to fold 8's into what might've been a blind steal.
