    Default Tight vs. Loose Play

I am wondering if I could pick everyone’s brain. I have been thinking about the early stages of a MTT (say the first 3 levels) both online and live, in particular what makes someone a tight player vs. a loose player.

I understand some givens such as position and how the rest of the table is playing; plays a big part in ones hand selection. I am curious, however, with different lengths in blind levels and the smaller chip stacks in online play how much of a difference it make in your starting requirements/aggression level.

Does online play cause you to play tighter and wait for a big hand and then loosen up, or to play less strict hands and hope to get lucky.
I would really appreciate everyone’s thoughts.

When everyone has a deep stack (first 3 levels), then the worse your opponents are, the more hands you can play for a profit against them. You should usually play tighter online because Internet players are better than live players.

    FYP
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

Internet players are not looser than live players. I don't know if you've ever had the experience of playing live where three people at the table all tell you that they notice how tight you are and they know to fold when you play a hand, and then you make a huge raise and all three of them call.

Where I am, I don't know, I'll never know, in the silence you don't know, you must go on, I can't go on, I'll go on.

Classic stuff... from everything I've read most live NL games ($1/2 blinds, and 2/5 blinds) play like $25NL and lower online. I can well imagine the same is true for live tournies as well.
