Super easy shove over for me. This kind of overbet (even though slight overbet) is very often a weak hand that doesn't want a call.

BTW, great to see you back in the game man, it's been a while!

Yeah the guy was a bit of a donkey, calling an all-in with a pair of kings with a 4 kicker!

I did shove it and he folded and just wondering if that was the correct move.

Just getting back into things so will be posting some hands to refresh my memory lol...

Is a flat call with a shove on the turn here a bad move? With that line we may get villian to take another weak stab at the pot and therefore get more chips.

The biggest reason I can see for that is that this board is not completely risk free, although the str8 draw is pretty thin.
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

this is what i was thinking also. since your both deepstacked, protecting your hand isnt as important. if your stacks were both around 1200-1500 this would be an insta-shove on the flop. I think you have to at least consider calling the flop and hope they lead Qx again on the turn. For this flop it seems a little too dangerous though (straight and flush draws)...if it were something like Q35 rainbow I would definetly prefer calling.

He's calling correctly if he has a legit draw on the flop but may shove or call on the turn which will often be a mistake.

Really the only reason to shove is if you know he has a weak draw like a gutshot or bottom pair and will only put money if from here if he gets there. If he has a PP or Qx or nothing calling and hoping for a brick is better.

In general, think about what you're doing before you do it. "have to raise, I'm ahead" just isn't a good way to think and is rampant in the forum these days. Shoving is fine and if you think his range is heavily weighed to QbigX it's the better play.

Also, consider what happens to his calling range (and the blinds) if you raise to 200 or 250.

    thanks.

I thought it was an easy shove and I reckoned, as he had shown that he'd call down with a pair and a weak kicker, that he'd maybe donk call with something rubbish and pay me off.

Oh yeah, I missed preflop, I would make it 200 to go with the limper in front.

I see drmcboy's point about not necessarily having to shove over because we may be able to get another bet out of him on the turn, but I do think that at a $6.50 you get called pretty wide here with all sorts of trash, and perversely a shove over can sometimes look weak like we really want opp to go away...

I shove over, your hand is probably good but it is not that strong, and there are many cards that will either improve his hand to beat you or kill any action if it did not improve villian's hand

Your stack is not deep enough to reraise without pushing IMO

Yeah as prev stated I had seen him call an all in bet with top pair rubbish kicker and thought that he'd call my shove with a lot of possible holdings.
