    Default What's the deal with...

...all of the river minraises 'for value' that I am seeing lately? Was this written about somewhere, or are people just getting very lazy?

I know the play has its merits and its place, but it is usually used in a horrible spot where opps will call much more than a minraise.

I have seen it 3 or 4 times in the last 300 or so hands.

It also seems to be bad for metagame if you are minraising your big hands on the river. How do you expect to steal a pot on the river if a minraise is your standard river value play (unless of course it is a whole leveling procedure that is currently being done to induce later thin calls of bigger value raises on the river, but I doubt it).

Just had to get that off my chest.

minraise says "I really don't know how much you will call with your hand because I have no reading abilities so I just hope you call this minraise"

Most raises by opps are "I am going to raise" and they hit the raise button. no thought to money or value. It's because there is a button, nothing else. they have no idea. On any street, if I bet pot, 1/2 pot or anything in between, most of the time it's a min raise.

It's the same with the shove bet at $50NL and under, even sometimes at $100NL+. It's nothing to do with FE, it's TV. I got a hand, Alll innnn.
