    Default Wheeeeeeeeeeeee Donked My Roll

Tilt induced largly by badgers and pie sent me on a donk spree yesterday.

The sick part is, I'm kind of looking forward to building up a tiny little deposit into a proper roll again.

Would be alot more bothered about it but I had spent around 50% of my roll "ballin" anyway so meh. I'm still around 10k up in the form of shit I don't need.

Now, just got to decide whether to carry on with LHE or switch to NL. I'll only be depositing $200 and the thought of .10/.20 fixed limit isn't that appealing, 10NL here I come.

good luck mate. I know what its like.

I'm about 1 month into starting from scratch again (i only put in about 15-20hrs a week). deposited £25.

Had a couple of small MTT money finishes incl $288 last night. Roll is now approx £500 (just read Sauce123 interview and he started with $500 so theres hope for me yet.....)

    Keep grinding!

    - though i never donked off 10k. What you doing, playing Blackjack or some shit?

    Kind of...

My roll started at $200 in June and around a month or two ago it reached $10k. There was just something about the 10k mark that made me feel "invinsible" and since reaching 10k my standard deviation has been ridiculous. I've been on tilt for about a month without realising it.

I decided to withraw $3k into my savings and also spent around $4k on various balla shit before I blew the lot (at this point I realised I was on long-term tilt).

My roll has been around $3.5k for the past couple of weeks but I have been playing MASSIVELY underolled. I just couldn't bring myself to sit back down at a 2/4 or 3/6 table where the rake is total BR-rape and have been playing 5/10 for the most part with some spells of 10/20. Obviously losing a big pot at 10/20 has a massive effect on a 3.5k roll and this then led to exponential tilt which peaked yesterday (also due to pie and badgers but thats another story).

So there you have it people - you can go on tilt from winning lots of money (ie, reaching the 10k milestone) aswell as losing. Also - I made the money far far too quickly and easily which just made me respect it less.

Anyways, meh. This isn't a whinge post just a whats going on in my poker-life post. Atleast I have a good excuse to learn NL now.

    PLz elaborate

I feel for you though, I had to hit 1k about 10 times because every time I hit it, I would tilt and donk off some more.

Playing with semitilt is the reason I am moving back to tourneys; the stacks are so much shorter so incorrect decisions are much easier to spot, whereas you could constantly be assigning horrific ranges in cash and never pick yourself up on it...

Lmao now I am even more intrigued! I assumed me and I Like Pie had done something ridiculous in Gauntlet and upset you, but a story about real pies and real badgers causing tilt sounds amazing!

Have you ever thought of a career as an author?

Trust me, the badgers and pies stories are not as interesting as they sound.

It involes me railing a 0.02/0.04 game and a total nutcase whispering random shit to me over msn straight into my earphones.

Basically a nutter completely warped my mind over a 4 year period, it peaked last night and I went on retard-monkey-tilt.

Kind of actually... I did far far far FAR too many hallucinogens when I was younger and tend to "flashback" when I'm extremely tired and people start talking random giberish.

the best way to donk your roll is to sit down at some 200/400 stud 8ob table. everytime i log onto FT I have this extreme urge to go sit dowm at one....

well if it makes u feel any better, I too donked off my roll a kazillion times before I made a bazillion this year.

Botht the 3k and the 10k marks had the same effect on me as it did on you and I would play in games that I was not yet rolled for because I knew I could beat them. Then, when I got bad beat I would go even higher chasing my losses and keep playing until the wee hours of the next morning before I realized "holy crap I just lost (most of) my roll."

No worries - I was atleast sensible enough to cash out most of my profits when I sensed life-tilt a while back so I still have alot to show for my efforts.

Really looking forward to the challenge of NL, I think I'm gonna give myself another day to cool off first before depositing though.

Just want some quick opinions on one thing:

I know I can destroy most of the LHE games up to 5/10 at the networks I play but I only plan on depositing $400 to start my new roll (I know I know... 2 days ago I was saying $200 ). This just about rolls me for .50/1 LHE (I think 400bb is sufficient at this level) or $25 NL buying in for $20.

The thought of grinding back up to 5/10 from .5/1 is not very appealling and I think I could easily find myself playing underolled as the temptation to play higher stakes is too tempting (because I know I can beat the games).

On the other hand, I'm not very experienced with NL and may find it harder to rebuild my roll.

What would you do? NL or LHE?

Edit: also, would you suggest 6-max or fullring when for NL considering that I have been playing 6max LHE for the past 6 months?

Do it the same as you built it up last time, no need to change a working formula

Yeah, just fix that last part of the equation. And factor out blackjack. You can rebuild it. You have the technology.

Jib, it depends. Are you building up your roll so you can get back to your preferred game, or are you thinking about NL to learn a new game, have fun and potentially discover a new primary game?

I reckon, from reading a few of your posts, that you treat poker as a hobby, at least for a while. Take it seriously - i.e. don't just think "$10 is nothing, donk donk donk" - and see how it goes. Pretend the concept of profit doesn't exist, and just play for fun and education.
