Default Two hands for analysis ($9 + $0.90 Pokerstars)

One of my new years resolutions is to post more to help strengthen my game, so here are two hands from a $9+$0.90 tourney that I think you can take some different (potentially better) lines on them.

First one is early in the tournament, no real reads on anybody.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (9 handed) Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards)

    Button (t1225)
    SB (t1410)
    BB (t1760)
    UTG (t3275)
    UTG+1 (t1270)
    MP1 (t1510)
    MP2 (t1180)
    MP3 (t2190)
    Hero (t1470)

Preflop: Hero is CO with , .
UTG raises to t60, 4 folds, Hero raises to t165, 3 folds, UTG calls t105.

    Flop: (t375) , , (2 players)

UTG checks, Do you C-bet this flop?

    What I did:
Hero bets t225, UTG calls t225.

    Turn: (t825) (2 players)
UTG checks, Do you bet again with a second check?

    What I did:
    Hero checks.

    River: (t825) (2 players)
UTG checks, Given the above, bet or check it down?

    What I did:
    Hero checks.

    Final Pot: t825

    Results in white below:
UTG shows [Qs Th] (a pair of Kings)
Hero has Js Jd (two pair, kings and jacks).
    Outcome: Hero wins t825.

    Second hand:

MP2 was just moved to my tables about 3 hands before this, SB was calling preflop alot

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (9 handed) Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards)

    UTG (t1355)
    UTG+1 (t2735)
    MP1 (t2890)
    MP2 (t2020)
    MP3 (t1570)
    CO (t3950)
    Button (t560)
    SB (t430)
    Hero (t1725)

Preflop: Hero is BB with , .
    3 folds, MP2 raises to t100, 3 folds, SB calls t75,

Do you flatcall, raise, or shove and why?

    What I did:
Hero raises to t1725, MP2 raises to t2020, SB folds.

    Flop: (t3845) , , (2 players)

    Turn: (t3845) (2 players)

    River: (t3845) (2 players)

    Final Pot: t3550

    Results in white below:
Hero shows [Kd Kh] (a full house, Sixes full of Kings)
MP2 shows [Ad Kc] (a full house, Sixes full of Aces)
    MP2 collected 3550 from pot

    Other comments welcome as well.

1st hand I think you played well until the river, where I would bet for value vs. smaller pairs and maybe even Q high.

The second hand, I would raise to ~400-500 so that you get some value out of MP's lesser hands. Shoving is OK too though.

Why do you prefer the massive overbet with KK instead of a 400-500 raise?

Because the SB came along for the ride pre. To make the side pot worth it, you are gonna need to raise like double the shorties stack which is 1/2 your stack, so you might as well just push. It also looks a lot more like AK this way and u will get calls from some middling pairs that might fold to a standard raise.
