Big pairs early

    Default Big pairs early

I'm doing pretty well at 45 player Sit-n-Go's, but I do have a question about playing A's, K's, Q's and Big Slick suited/unsuited early.

My natural inclination is to bet aggressively, 4 or 5 X BB, but not go all-in because there's so few chips in the pot.

Lately, I've run into maniacs that call with two suited cards or 10, J.

After the Flop, I bet very heavy, usually, the pot, and these maniacs call -- still on a draw.

On the River -- you got it -- they hit a flush or straight.

Should I be going All-in with big pairs regardless of potsize?

If you can get AA or KK AI PF then thats +EV at any time of the game.

That doesnt mean getting KK in the first round and pushing all-in as your first bet. Still bet normally, but always raise if the actions to you. So if someones bet 80 in front of you, raise to 200. If you bet 80 and someone raises you, then you can probably push AI when the action gets back to you, etc.

QQ is a bit different. I probably prefer to see a flop, but I have been known to shove it .
Just dipping my toes back in.

I agree with this. Decisions in poker depend on so many factors - position, size of your stack relative to the blinds, stack sizes of the other players, action in front etc. that it's better to post the actual hand to give us something concrete to discuss.

in general in those 45's though you have to jam your big pairs. If you run into sets on the flop against 1 player, so be it. If you go to the flop with 4 players and are oop, just remember that it's only a pair.
