    Default More Heads-up Meyhem ($5.50)

OK here we are again. I learned a lot from the comments on the last post. For this heads up session I only put in a raise of 3xBB. Never was either my opponent or I ever with a stack of <10BB so all in shoved did not come into play here until the last hand. Am I starting to get this stuff yet?

Looks a lot better, good job. I'm not sure if I'd call that last allin though. You're usually pretty dominated but just tough luck.

    6s 7s SB (M = 10.68; F)
This is a great spot to raise.

    Hand 3
If you are going to play it, raise it because you have position post flop and are deep enough to feel things out.

    4h 3h SB (M = 20.03; F)
    Again another possible raise.

    Hand 7
I like a call on that flop bet, getting good odds to draw to a pair and you're in position to find out on the turn if this guy was really serious or if he's on ace high.

    Hand 8
Limp raising this seems suspect but I strangely don't find it too bad.

    Hand 11
I like the preflop but find that opening the flop for a mere 600 is a bit weak. Either lead out for more and decide this is the hand, or a much better option is to check/fold.

    Hand 13
    A good play all around.

    Hand 14
This is the only real problematic hand and unfortunately it busted you. You're calling 3960 for your tourney life in a pot of 4585 with QT. I understand that it was a fairly aggressive heads up battle going on so you should broaden your range that brudl is making this play with, but still I think most of that range has you beat fairly badly.

Hand 13 - I dont think you have to push the flop. Id make a standard cbet of 700ish

Hand 14 - Not a good idea calling all in for 20bb's with queen high, even if it is heads up. Depending on how aggressive you think the opponent is, I would be calling here with around A9+, KQ, 77+

Hand 2 JQo: mjcongleton: shows JSpade QHeart (a straight flush, Eight to Queen) - OMG, how much does that rock . Oh, and hand played perfectly btw.

Hand 3 59o: I like that turn move. I need to do that more.

    Hand 4 Q6s: Nice.

Hand 5 78o: Hmm, I'd love to pull a c-r on that flop with middle pair, but with the FD out there I think you played this right.

Hand 6 97o: As above, nice.

Hand 7 8Jo: I dont like this. J8o is a top 50% hand (just), raise it PF.

Hand 8 9Jo: Umm. Same as above, not sure about the push over, but taking a stand is never too bad of a move.

    6Spade TSpade SB (M = 14.81; F) - Raise the PF

    Hand 11 9Ao: Well played.

Hand 13 7Ao: I'm guessing you pushed flop because of hand 11, but I'm with fjuanl, std c-bet instead. Too risky as played.

Hand 14 QTs: I dont like the call here. You have lots of time. Yes he's been aggressive, but I dont think this is the hand to take a stand with.

    Final Thoughts

Much improved from the last few. I think you mentioned you have HoH 2? I think its in that book that he gives the hands that make up various hand %'s. Take some time to get an idea of them. Use them to put Opp on ranges. You only want to call someone if you're at least in the top 50% of the range you put opponent on. For instance if you think opponent is pushing over with 90% of hands in that last hand, then you need at least a top 40% hand to call with. However if you think he's only pushing over with 20% of hands, you need a top 10% hand to call with. Putting opponent on accurate ranges and making appropriate calls is a real key to HU play.

Oh one more head-shrink type point. I know being a 2:1 dog in chips can make things seem desperate, but you need to realise you've got over 20 BBs to play with here. HU things arent ever desperate until you get to about 4xBB. Keep reminding yourself that you have time and chips to play with, and that for a good player your position isnt that bad.

The reason 13 is a push is because his range is way ahead of opponent and we don't want to get in a situation that we make a crying call if put all in.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm getting better. Yes it is HOH2 which has the hand rankings in it. I actually keep it open to that page when I'm playing heads up, at least until I have the ranges in my head automatically.
