    Am I supposed to call that river bet?

    Pre-flop: (8 players) HERO is UTG+1 with A A
    UTG folds, HERO raises to t120, 5 folds, BB calls t90 (pot was t165).

    Flop: T J J (t255, 2 players)
    BB checks, HERO bets t180, BB calls t180 (pot was t435).

    Turn: T (t615, 2 players)
    BB checks, HERO checks.

    River: 8 (t615, 2 players)
    BB bets t180, HERO calls t180 (pot was t795).

    Results:
    Final pot: t975

    I agree, I am never folding the river with an overpair getting almost 4.5 to 1 on the river, even on a double paired board.

    Turn check behind was good BTW.

    River call is good, bet the turn maybe to see where I'm at. QQ-KK will call you, and often an ace will call you down as well.

    Nonononono, I am going to write a post to illustrate why "betting to see where you're at" is not a good reason to bet. In the meantime, look at the bottom of the thread here - http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...op-t65536.html

    In this case, you bet - where are you at? If opp calls, are they slowplaying something that has you crushed (Tx or Jx) or are they trying showdown something that YOU crush (QQ/KK/lower pocket pair)? Obviously if they raise you get out, but that denies you the chance to show down your hand when you just might have the best hand.
