More People Betting The Goods Into Pre-Flop Raiser???

Hey, all.

It used to be that if I was in a MTT or even a cash no-limit game and I raised pre-flop and got one caller, if the guy bet into me on the flop with a two-flush board, 90% of the time he's got a flush draw and I can just raise him off of it right there whether I have a hand or not. People who hit the flop in a big way, like a set or two-pair, usually will slow-play them and check/call.

Now in MTT's on Full Tilt, I'm seeing a lot more guys betting strong hands that they hit on the flop into the pre-flop raiser rather than slow-playing. Today I had someone bet top two pair into me as a pot-sized bet on the flop when I had raised pre-flop.

Is anyone else seeing this kind of stuff? Are the days of slow-playing big hands on the flop over? It seems the play in MTT's has become so hyper-aggressive, everybody is betting their big hands into a pre-flop raiser rather than slow-playing.

I don’t play cash no limit so can’t comment on that aspect.

In tournaments, I play mainly small stakes. I haven’t ever noticed much slow playing. Of course, the circumstances have to be right for slow play, and the right circumstances come up relatively rarely. There will often be flush or straight draws apparent on the flop. I need to defend my hand against these draws.

I would not think that top 2 pair is a slow play hand. It’s just too vulnerable to draws. Allowing the odds to call or giving the free card would be a mistake. I much prefer to smirk at the bad calls as my chips disappear and I pile up Sklansky dollars.

Slow play can be right when you are confident that you will be raised or don’t think you will get calls to your own raise. You want the aggressive player to raise you or the tight player to draw 2nd best on the turn/river.
