    Default Multi tabling

I want to add more tables to my game because at the moment I'm only 1 tabling and it's taking forever to get my roll up.

I added a second table and done kinda ok but I was missing what players were betting with, who was tight, who was loose etc etc.

I'm guessing PAHUD would help. do all of those that multi table use PAHUD? and if so is it as good a help as it seems?

Those who don't use it and play 2+ tables, who on earth do you manage it?

    thanks in advance...

I typically 3 table and am about to move to 4 tableing. I DEFINITELY use PAHUD to help with reads and also make sure I make notes when I can.

btw, my other piece of advice would be to move up in number of tables slowly as it does take time to get used to managing multiple tables.
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

I really like the HUD. It helps make a general distinction between loose or tight and after awhile you will have a lot of hands on the big multitablers which should help as well. I struggled with 2-3 tables for awhile but slowly added more. I can comfortably do 5 now and am working on six. You may want to mix in a few lower buy-in ones as well. If you are at the $16s start with one $16 and one $6. Your play probably won't be too much different but it can help mentally to make the adjustment.

    I'm awesome (and HUD free)

Honestly if you can't get reads on two tables I don't think HUD will help much. It (probably) can't hurt but it sounds like you just need to get used to running two tables. Half the time one table will have someone taking their full 15 seconds or whatever anyway. The HUD gives you a 'read' but it's also one more thing you'll have to think about "What does a XX/XX raise here??"

I 6table without the HUD. I am thinking about getting it as an additional resource.

When I start playing the first thing I do is checking who else on my tables is multi-tabling. This is usually a good tell as to how solid they are, but needs further verfication. Sometimes they are just that generous people who want to spread their money amongst the communitiy as fast as possible. But this is usually only the case with two-tablers. If I have someone at all 6 of my tables I either know that player already or (s)he is a reg unknown to me so far.

With 6 tables I dont have too much time taking notes. I have a good memory for a lot of stuff. So I only take notes on things that seem odd or especially noteworthy to me. I definitely want to keep notes on people like notorious slowplayers. I basically never keep notes on regs. Most of them just play totally standard and arent all that hard to figure out. But if some guy I dont know open limps AA UTG+1 at the second blind level I want to have that written down, cause that might save me some major headache in the future.

Other than that I just try to do my best in focussing on all the tables. I tile them because I want to be able to see everything while it's happening.

    I six-table without a HUD as well.

    --get a good memory
--play standard, try not to get too fancy. Wait for Push/fold.
--mark where players mess up and how...always indicate the blind level.
--be careful against the monster limps.
--take note of the passive players who call everything.

Yeah, two tables you'll soon get used to. Just keep scanning the action on both tables. HUD wont help much there.

I 6-table. I use a HUD most of the time now, but more to confirm my reads. I posted this advice recently: You wont get reads on everyone, but you'll notice the ones that stand out (playing a lot of pots, overbetting, etc). The rest, they're probably decent players who should be treated as such.

When I say I use a HUD to confirm reads, I may feel that bigstack is a calling station, then I check his hud and see he plays 50% of hands and 0% PFR. Yup, he's a calling station. I need to be careful of making small stack pushes into him. Or I may suspect villian is decent, I check his stats and he's something like 15,10, which suggests hes probably playing a TAG game and to respect his raises. I dont base my reads on them, but they can help confirm if I'm not sure.
Just dipping my toes back in.

Play your first table for a few levels to get some reads. Then add the second table. Once you feel comfortable 2 tabling, add another. That should be much easier than just starting up 2 tables simultaneously

HUD can't hurt , but i don't think it is really a necessity , which i think it sorta becomes after 9 tables for me atleast. Unless your watching tv/browsing the web/instant messaging , theres not reason why you shouldn't be able to get reads , and if you are doing those other things while playing than it's time to add tables and decrease distraction.
    I started with 2 tables than went to 4 , than 5 , than 6 and from 6 right to 9.

Thanks for the replies. Great help

I think I maybe need more practice at 2 tables. I'll probably purchase PAHUD at the end of the month when I get paid and hopefully add a few more tables. I'm looking to play 4 tables max and have them tiled on my screen so I can see them all.

    thanks again

    Winnerpeg Winterpeg... I hate Winnipeg...

    Default Multi-tabling.. buying HUD, etc.

My plan for this: (remember i don't know anything...)

Play 1, 2, or 3 tables depending on the action (that's where i'm comfortable - usually 2), and follow good bankroll management. I want to build a BR that is consistantly on the up and up, i don't feel like i can do that playing 4+ tables yet. I will earn money for any poker tools i want to buy by playing poker, i refuse to fork over my paycheck! Am i at that serious of a disadvantage without these tools to play 4 ish tables at low levels (prob up to .05/.10NL)?

Seems to me that i need to play a few thousand more hands, hopefully i can earn the dough to buy PT before any other aids... that way i can plug the obvious holes in my game that good opponents can read and take advantage of. I imagine this will help me see / take advantage of some weakness i will inevitably see in some of my opponents.

    Thoughts anyone??

As you play more tables, your reads are obviously going to be worse. But the dip in ROI% is worth it for your increase in $$/hour.
HUDs do improve the reads you will get but I mostly use them as a way of identifying the Loose and the TAG while I am 9 or 12 tabling. This helps me assign more accurate ranges throughout the SNG
