    Default (LC) Brag Post-First Withdrawal!!!

Had to post this, I made my first withdrawal tonight for $207 off Poker Stars! Been learning SNG's since March last year when I deposited $80 dollars into Stars, had a breakeven stretch at the 3.40's for about 700 games, hit a streak and went to 6.50's, swung up and down for about 300 games, hit a streak and went to the 16.00's, where I currently do 5 tables for a 11% ROI! Only 350 games at the 16.00's, but i would guess the 11% is +- 3% of my true ROI. Anyways, I'm keeping my roll at $1000, and everytime I break 1200 I'll skim a little off the top! Thanks flopturnriver for making me a better poker player!

Thats really nice. $80 into $1200+ in less than a year. Thats like 1500% return on your initial investment .

GREAT RESULTS! I started with 25 three weeks ago, and I'm at 140 now (still playing the $1 games)...I can't wait to keep moving up like you did. Great work!

hey, this brings up practical a question: how often and when do most semi-pro players make withdrawals? What stakes are many of these players playing?

Hate to piss on your bonfire, but be prepared for variance to kick you in the arse.

Cant really answer your question, but its something I've been giving some individual thought to. I think the answer (depending on your definition of semi-pro) is as least often as they're prepared to. Heres the thing, relating back to your post on ROI moving up, zachaser is now $207 further away from his next move up in stakes, so his long term earning potential just took a hit, or at least it will take him a bit longer now to reach each new buyin.

Like I say though, it depends on what you mean by semi-pro. If someone for instance wanted to withdraw $1k per month as 'spending cash' so they could pump as much of their employment salary into say paying off a home loan, then obviously their goal is to reach a BR/level where they're confident they can earn $1k per month (or survive a month or two of variance without affecting their buyin level) as quickly as possible, but from that point on make regular withdrawals.

    Thanks, Bjsaust. Great explanation.

By semi-pro, I meant a player who depends on his poker for at least 20% of his yearly income.
