    Default ROI versus Profitability

I assumed both went hand in hand but I have read a couple of articles that talked about compromising one for the other. Can someone please explain?

    Thx

Probably you saw someone talking about playing turbo SNGs vs regulars - you might have a lower ROI in the turbos, but if you end up playing more because they go faster you'd make more money.

Yes what ^ he said & maybe dealing with amount of tables. Less tables = higher ROI , but in a lot of people less tables = less hourly $$$.

the 'classic' place they collide other then the ones already mentioned is moving up in limits

8% ROI at $20 Sng is more money then 12% ROI at $10 Sng, and as you move up the buy in ladder your ROI will decrease

" as you move up the buy in ladder your ROI will decrease"

Because, in general, players who play higher buyins are better players, meaning that you have less edge over them. There are obviously some exceptions like a rich guy I know who has NO idea how to play whose idea of an entry level was to play $114 turbos, but in general players are better as you move up.

    What Taipan said

In addition for most people if you move up the ladder and you retain your ROI you will keep on moving up the ladder, until eventualy your ROI will start to decrease, if it doesn't and you are beating the highest games available with the same ROI as the 6.5 then you must be the best poker player in the world
