    Which of these poker books would you recommend?
    I've borrowed alot of poker books from a friend and I don't want to waste time reading one if its just trash. Have any of these really helped your game? Here's the list:

    * Insider Secrets To Playing Texas Hold'em Poker Online (Theo Cage) {interesting what I've read so far, but I'm skeptical.}
    * Play Poker Like the Pros (Phil Hellmuth)
    * No Limit Hold'em Secrets (Roy Rounder)
    * Internet Texas Hold'em Winning Strategies From An Internet Pro (Matthew Hilger)
    * Ace On The River (Barry Greenstein)
    * No Limit Hold 'em Theory and Practice (David Sklansky, Ed Miller)
    * Caro's Book of Poker Tells (Mike Caro) {is this applicable to online poker?}
    * Bluffing Beyond Poker (Johannes Horner, Nicolas Sahuguet)
    * Championship No-Limit & Pot-Limit Hold'em(T.J. Cloutier & Tom McEvoy)
    * Playing Texas Hold'em Online - The Professional's Guide (A.J. Mills)
    * Poker Brain
    * Poker, A Guaranteed Income for Life (Frank R. Wallace
    * The Intellligent Guide To Texas Hold'em Poker (Sam Braids)
    * The Education Of A Poker Player (Herbert Osborne Yardley)
    * Tournament Tactics (Roy Rounder).

    Also I was given links to these online articles:

    * An Investigation Of An Adaptive Poker Player (Graham Kendall & Mark Willdig)
    * Game Theory And AI - A Unified Approach To Poker Games (Thesis) (Frans Oliehoek)
    * David Sklansky - The Eight Mistakes In Poker

    These are the books that I haven't heard of. I am going to read/reread other books that I know will help me like Harrington, Little Green Book, and SuperSystem.

    Which ones are a must read and should be read first?

    thanks

    All the Harington on Holdem's are good.

    I don't think this has much poker content from what I've heard.

    No Limit Hold 'em Theory and Practice (David Sklansky, Ed Miller)
    This had some good stuff in it imo.

    Haven't heard of much of the rest.

    Add these, and forget the rest. Most are too far behind in todays poker games online, and will leave you with nothing learned. HOH, Green book and Supersystem are good starts, but basic.

    Theory of Poker can be a tough read, but once you digest it, it is by far one of the best.

    if newer to the game, HOHs and SS are great. so are Hilger and Sklansky/Miller.

    Drinking your milkshake.
    Harrington on Holdem is great if you're just starting out, especially if tournements are your thing.

    NLH Theory and practice is essential reading IMO.

    You need to read Theory of Poker at some point, but I wouldnt start with that. Its not too accesible and many of the ideas and examples relate to limit games.

    I have also heard lots of good things about Professional No Limit Holdem, but I havent read that one yet - I'm waiting for the Stars FPP store to get it in.

    PNL
    Ace On The River won't do much to help you become a better low stakes online grinder but it's an absolutely fucking awesome book if you like poker.

    Theory of Poker is like the poker bible IMO. Supersystem was totally useless for me. NL Hold'em T&P was really great, also essential. I've read HOH1 and 2. 1 was a bit basic after having read NLHE T&P and Theory of Poker already, and had to skim through most of it, but HOH2 has some essential concepts related to tournament poker.

    NLHE T&P, Professional NL.

    As for non-instructional type material, One of a Kind (Stu Ungar's biography) is very good as well.

    * Ace On The River (Barry Greenstein)
    * No Limit Hold 'em Theory and Practice (David Sklansky, Ed Miller)

    These two are the best. Ace On The River is more about the life of a gambler than about strategy, but a great read.

    Theory of Poker and NLHE T&P should be compulsory reading for anyone planning to win at NLHE.
    Just dipping my toes back in.

    I'd like to nix Professional NL from my recommendations. I just finished the last half or more of the book and I don't feel quite right about it. I don't like the treatment of target stack-to-pot ratios as the main aspect of planning a NLHE hand.

    The HOH series is definitely good, though.

    Out of your initial list the ones I read:
    1. Ace on the river - will not improve your game much, but is a fun
    2. Caro's book of tells - only worth something if you play a lot of live poker
