First I thought I should post this into MTT forum, but I saw that this is the place for higher buyins. But this is more cash game oriented forum so mods can move it to MTT if they want to. So this was 215$ buyin Sunday warm up on Stars. I actually bough into it with FPP's, so it was some kind of a freeroll for me. This is my by far the biggest tournament cash, so I will do analysis of it, because next time when I make the FT, I want to win. I made some mistakes in the progress, did some "wrong things at the right time" so that's why I am posting this, to help me improve my game plus I figured it is probably interesting for some people to see how to luckbox to the FT of a major tournament. There is about 100 hands here so it will take probably 20 minutes for you to skip through it. I have an advice for the lazy ones (I don't blame you) - just look at the hands with my commentary. Every important hand will have some commentary by me. I won't comment on blind steal hands, pushbots and that stuff.

I am by no means a great tournament player, but I will explain my thoughts, so it might be interesting. If you want to see a HH win from a great tournament player, search for Chardrian's win a couple months ago. It is a great analysis. However, let's get to work.

Bandit55688: doesnt show hand Here I make my first mistake. I have no reads on villain, so I shouldn't even call preflop. However, it is not a bad board to c/r bluff, because it likely didn't hit him. The problem is that I am representing a very small range, so if this was my current 1000NL cash game, people would float me, reraise or make any kind of a play on me. However, MTT players don't play that well postflop, so I made a move. It is not a bad move, but readless and at this blind level it is not good. The reason I did it was because I was steaming from 100$ buyin tourney I busted out in first level when I lost with top full against quads (never happened that to me before) - AA on 4Ax4 board, the guy has 44.

Here, my computer freezes so I have to restart it, that's why I am folding all those hands. It was the only time in like one year this has happened and this steams me more than losing a big pot on a bad beat. I was just furious when that happened. I guess it was because of a PT database not being compacted. I didn't want this to happen again, so I played the rest of the tournament without PT running.

I didn't think he would minreraise if he had AA, since he wouldn't want to give two players the odds to call and outflop him and should be happy to take what is already out there. I thought he was weak, but I also had to worry about a cold caller trapping. I also hate AT more than any other two cards so I decided to fold. Coldcaller woke up and reraised and I was really confused now because his play didn't make sense with these stacksizes. Minreraiser went into the tank and said that he folded AQ. Hero collected 2312000 from pot I was kind of commited when he reraised, was getting good odds, so I decided to gamble. This way I eliminated a guy in 10th place and now we go to FT, guaranteed at least 5000$. So the big money at stake.

So the final table starts. Fortunately, I have the most aggressive player besides me on my right so I am able to resteal his loose opens. Stevejpa is Steve Paul Ambrosse, a Team Pokerstars player, he won some big live donkament, so obviously a great player. He is the only player besides me who doesn't play on scared money (at least that was my guess at that time). I was ruding for him to bust out because he is the only player that I probably don't have an edge at the FT. But unfortunately, he made the FT. A guy who also caught my attention was xBrycex. The reason was that Steve called him Bryce everytime he talked to him. For example "nh Bryce, ty bryce etc." while against other players, he just said "nh". So I figured he probably knows him and that Bryce is at least a decent player. I later found out he is a pocketfiver. So I figured he might playback a bit, but he wasn't very aggressive before the FT, so I figured he is a little bit of a scared money (but he might just be card dead). For some reason I didn't remember to use pokerdb. These reads are important for my FT play.

When Bryce made a minreraise, I was seriously thinking about pushing. It reminded me of Adanthar replay of Sunday million FT (check CR) where one guy was very aggressive, but made too small bets because he was scared money. So this was going with my reads I stated before. He doesn't want to be pushed around, but doesn't have a heart to make a good sized reraise. But minreraise means AA a lot and he might minreraise with AA, trying to induce a light push from me, which he probably knows I am capable of doing. I didn't want to spew and I folded.

So, overall, it was a great experience. I hope I wasn't talking too much bs. It took me like 5 hours to write this because I didn't save it somewhere else the first time I wrote it so I had to rewrote a huge part. That's why I might have to edit some parts, I might make some mistakes. Even if I don't get many comments, it was worth it, since just going through HH again helped my game a lot. If you have any comments at all, just say. Feel free to tell me I am an idiot. I didn't make comments on all plays, just on the big pots and interesting decisions, but I would appreciate if someone sees something else. I might figure some plays are standard, while they might be terrible.

Also, I would like to add that I am not attacking anyone personally if I say they played bad (opponents will probably google themselves and find that thread, I guess). They might be great guys.

I posted this in 3 parts so that I could trim the entire tournament, so I hope this doesn't bother you. Tournament trimmer is a great programm and FTR is a great community. When I was starting out, some guy here transfered me 30$ on stars so I wouldn't cash big here without FTR. So FTR, keep doing a great job. You rock.

I agree that people in the tourney forum would be more inclined to read this, but the guidelines say 100+ tourneys go here. If we're going to move this then we need to have those guidelines changed so that this forum is strictly for ring games.

BTW folding pre-flop after putting investing 40% of your stack is really gross.
