    Default Non-poker blogs

Does anyone read blogs regularly by other people concerning issues not related to poker ie social, science, etc?

The only one I read is http://atheistwager.blogspot.com/ but I'd like to find more that are interesting. Post yours here.

I like to read things regarding Atheism. I'll admit he's a little too "attack happy" on religion but there's a lot of interesting stuff.

Why? To me athiesm is retarded. Every Athiest I know is not happy at all. There are people who say "Well idk if god exists, i'd say he doesn't, but idk." To me that's not an athiest. An athiest to me is someone who argues that it is stupid to believe in god, yet by doing so admits to himself there is no point to life so they can live in misery? I just don't get it. Sorry if that was incoherent.

There's nothing to live for? I live to enjoy life.

I think a lot of "Atheists" become so because they want to rebel, not because they don't believe in a god.

I'm not going to argue with you or your belief that Atheism is "retarded" in this thread. These kind of arguments never end in anything productive but usually end in hurt feelings and angry bandwagons. If you have any further questions, the PM button is still functional.

I realize you don't know me, but I am an atheist, and am quite happy.

I don't say that it is stupid to believe in god, I just believe that there is no such thing as god. This does not lead to some sort of metaphysical vacuum (ie there is no meaning to anything). Quite the contrary.

Since I do not believe in an afterlife, the only thing that I have is right here, right now. There is no reward waiting for me if I live by a certain code of ethics. Rather, I have to make the most of the short time that I do have, and must make certain that I live according to principles that make sense to me as a person, and aren't followed simply because I am told that they are the will of god.

lol i was actually being really opinionated to get a thorough reply.
The only thing i dont like about athiesm is that a lot of them get pissed at people who do... which i think is unethical. But thanks for the response, i dont think there's anything wrong with not believing in god.

I don't get atheism. So you don't believe in god(s). Ok cool... then why are we even discussing it?

Atheism so often seems to become an assertion in it's own right, not the absence of one. I think that guy's blog is a great example.

It's ironic that people turn it into a belief system when it's suppossed to be the rejection of such. I believe in God, but from a practical standpoint the justifications for why there is no god(s) don't make anymore sense then why there is a god(s). Neither belief can be proven or disproven emprically.

The god as an abstract concept cannot be proven or disproven, but arguments can be made concerning certain 'gods', which is what he attempts to do in his blog. He argues against the Abrahamic god(s) based on inconsistencies in the texts, or that the existence of such a god would be a very bad thing for all of us.

I found his blog interesting enough, it's always enlightening to read the views of someone who once believed one thing, and now believes something entirely different.
