    Sportsbook $5.50 & $11 S&G's

    Default Finally!!!!!!

Yesterday I finally broke the $330.00 barrier playing the $5.50 S&G's. Started with $40 in the account. I know I was under rolled for that BI to start but thats what I played on FT before I switched sites to Sportsbook and was just really trying out the site, but it worked and since then I have followed strict guidelines on BR managagment and now am ready to move up to the $11 S&G's. I may stay at the $5.50's for awhile just to build a little bigger cushion for the learning curve. Am excited to move up though as grinding a tourney for an hour for $20 profit is fine but would rather have a shot at $40 an hour.

Thanks to everyone that posts here and helps a idiot become at least a positive ROI player!!

Have started to play some full ring cash games too. Man, the only thing worse then grinding a S&G for an hour for a $4 profit is grinding 2 $5 NL tables for $1.20 in 2 hours. I am a bankroll nit though and losing 10 bucks on one hand scares the bejesus out of me.

I will admit though the thrill of the cash game is pretty cool. It's nice not to have to worry about blinds eating you up, just wait for nice hands and position. It's new but I'm going to try and expand my game a bit and not be a total S&G player.

Thanks again everyone, who knew there was more to playing poker then watching the WSOP on ESPN.

Pot odds? Implied odds? WTF is that??

Ya know, I've actually heard a lot about there not being any qualitative difference between $5.50 players and $11 players. Hell I've even heard people go as high as the 22's and 33's, but I can't speak to that. I can however say that people at $11 sngs play pretty horribly too, so you probably don't have to worry too much about that learning curve. Play your 5.50 A-Game and you'll probably do fine.

Congratulations, I hope that I can reliably join you sometime soon...once I stop spewing chips. Until then, it's 5.50's for me.

Think of it as one less person determined to throw themselves out early as you step up in buyins, and one more person who understands basic sng concepts . Theres a difference between $5.50s and $11s and then to the $22s, but its not huge.
Just dipping my toes back in.

Congratulations, well done! I would definitely move up to the $11 games, I agree with bjsaust that they are not that much harder (if at all), as zxq said - play your A game and you'll be fine. Just set yourself a stop-loss position just in case you run bad at the $11s, maybe around $250 BR or so?

The other way to do it if you are feeling nervous about the jump is to play a $11 when you win a $5.50, that way you're freerolling for the $11. If you finish ITM, keep on playing $11s, if you finish OTM then move back to $5.50s.

It's too small a sample size to draw any conclusions, but if you have the roll, move up.

    Congrats Deuce!

This is why he has slacked off on coaching me lately (just kidding)... I'm glad you made it... on to bigger and better successes!

(Maybe I should start taking some of his coaching tips seriously now - Now I'm REALLY just kidding).
