    Default About to piss off my landlady {WildBobAA approved}

    Here's the short version. I might post the long version later but I doubt anyone will read it and everyone who might care probably already knows the long version anyway.

    I moved into this lol apartaments 2 days before the beginning of March and signed a lease or w/e saying my shit was $450/month. Less than two weeks later, I get a phone call from my landlady who tells me that for whatever reason my shit's going up to $700/month starting with the next month. I was in the middle of some important shit and in front of people I couldn't be like WHAT THE FUCK in front of, so I was just like ok I'll talk with you about it later. Since then I can't get ahold of the bitch.

    Well my girlfriend lives with me and she's like a total pushover. Landlady bitch leaves my gf a voicemail saying she needs to come sign some shit b/c of the rent "going up" or whatever, and doesn't say shit to me about it (which pissed me off quite a bit b/c that's the only thing she's ever called my gf about at all dealing with this shit). Meanwhile I haven't said anything back to landlady bitch since I've been looking for a new place. I figure I should have a new place lined up before I tell this bitch to go [insert some shit involving three donkeys here]. So I've got a new place lined up, and in my lease it says that if I give 30 days notice and pay the rent on those 30 days then I can break the lease or w/e if I have a good reason to do so. I'd say my fucking rent going up $3k/year is a good reason, amirite?

    So in about two hours I go to meet with this bitch at the scheduled time to sign that shit about my rent going up but instead I'm gonna be cool as a motherfuckin pimp and tell her in 30 days she can kiss my black ass.

    I took a shower and shit and I'm about to head over to the breakfast spot for some eggs and shit before I go tell that sucka sucka dick and shit.

    Ham and cheese omelet w/bacon, toast and Mountain Dew = breakfast of fucking champions.

    Don't know how rentals work in your neck of the woods, but here they are covered by a gov't run tenancy board. She can raise your rents, but only if she gives you proper WRITTEN notice. So, I'm gonna fathom a guess that she didn't meet that criteria.

    So I just got back from meeting with the bitch, and all is well. My lease is up on April 30th, aka 30 days from today. Also, I'm not paying the higher rent for this upcoming month.

    Also, where I live it's illegal for the landlord to up your rent by more than 10% a year. Yours might not be the same, but I assume there must be some rule like that for your neck of the woods. That is just a bizarre increase.

    if you signed a lease for an extended pd. of time I'm pretty sure there are laws against her increasing your rent.

    NOW, if you are going month-to-month you have to accept the market rate, which, theoretically could go up to $700 in one month if every single appt. in the area filled up simultaneously.

    Spoon - was it month to month lease? If so your hosed. But why would you only sign month to month because it costs more money to do it that way?

    I'm about to go month to month, my lease ends in May and frankly I don't know what I want to do with my life, so I might just go month to month and travel.

    It's illegal for her to raise it then because you have a contract for 1 yr with that rent price/month. Why move, she has no legal way to raise your rent?

    In all honesty I can probably do it faster and the EV of the time difference is likely to make doing it myself massively +EV.
