Default AKos first hand against 2 raisers

Knew nothing about these players. never played against and no time to scope.

First hand of tourney I'm UTG +2 and get dealt AKos. The UTG player raises to 140. UTG +1 reraises to 360. What is the right play here.

Good to be back to FTR! Took a leave of absence.....
It's not how many pots you win, it's what's in them that counts.

Hmmm. A $20. Well my knowledge (if there is much) would only cover the $5.50s, so I probably wouldn't have much insight to offer here. We can let a reg get to this one.

all advice is good my friend.

I ended up folding. UTG had A4d and UTG +1 had JJ.

I hate going crazy early when there is time to get some info on people but laying down AK seems weak too. Is a call ever right?

Okay, well I'll give my thoughts. In a $20 I'm not gonna assume everyone is a donk, as I do in the $5.50s, first and foremost. Secondly, these two players are acting from UTG and UTG+1, which we know to be the two spots on the table we should play tightest at. UTG could be raising a wide range here, since he is an unknown, but I highly doubt UTG+1 is making his play without at least fairly decent values (You say he had JJ, I would have put him on a range of QQ+, AK, AQs). You have a really good hand, however, let's look at our 3 options.

Call - I dislike this one most of all. You will have commited ~400 of your 1500 stack preflop, not to mention UTG will get another chance to act and could repop it. If he doesn't you are going into the flop with 1100 with a pot of 1200 already. Very bloated for an unmade hand. If you hit you can get it in, but if you miss and you usually will, you have to fold to any action. With the preflop action, it is very likely at least one will lead out.

Shove - You very well could be ahead of their range. They are both unknowns, so we can't give them "too" much credit just yet. However, with the aggressive action before you, there is a possiblility your shove will be called by one or possibly both. If they are willing to call your shove here I would feel a bit worried as the cards come as I'd be sure one has a decent-large pair and I would need to catch.

Fold - This is the line I would have taken as well. Mainly for the reasons above. I hate to call here, and I don't feel comfortable enough just yet to know these guys are betting without solid values. I'd be willing to chalk this away without any investment and start anew.

So imo, nice fold. Hope you did well with the rest of the tourney.

My thoughts exactly. I hate committing so early with an unmade hand. i also hade UTG +1 with QQ+ or AK (split pot).

I ended up with a second in this one but would have caught the ace on the flop on the first hand! lol

I'm folding regardless of buyin. Not only are there 6 left to act, you have very little fold equity against the 3bettor and don't have much of an edge even against a loose 3betting range. I think I'd shove with QQ+

Great. Was a spot I seriously considered moving AI however I also feel I have an edge later in the game. In other words I usually laugh at the people who bust out at the 10/20 level (unless a seriously bad beat)

Good point on the remaining 6. Easy fold. I feel better!!!!!

QQ+ seems like a good range to shove over with unless you have reads that UTG and UTG+1 are total donks.
