Default Operation: Give Full Ring a Chance

For those of you who don't know me, I play 6-max/5-max almost exclusively. I have been playing short-handed cash games since the summer of '06 and have made descent coin.

My limited experience at full ring comes from the start of my career (Jan. '06) until the summer. I really don't think I have ever sat at a full ring table higher than $100NL. However, I have played >100k hands of 6-max $200NL.

Today, I played a short session 8-tabling $100NL to see what full ring is like. I was quite surprised to see that every table was full of weak-tight nits. There was maybe one descent regular per table (I play on Ongame network btw) and usually one or two super donks (vpip > 50).

After 500 hands, my stats were roughly 19/16, which is quite loose for full ring. However, I am not sure where I need to tighten up. On the 5-max tables, I isolate limpers with a huge range of hands, while on full ring I don't think it's a good idea to isolate a nit running 8/2 with ATo after he limped from UTG....I guess I will stop doing that

So today marks the day that I will give full ring a chance. I really don't have much of a game plan, so I will update things as I go along.

I guess I will start at $100NL and go from there. I will probably try to play 10,000 hands before I move up (or move back to short-handed ).

In this thread, I will post certain hands that give me trouble. Also I'll post some PT stats, graphs, etc...
Hopefully my fellow FTRers can help me make the transition from 6-max to full ring go as smoothly as possible.

    Wish me luck!

Best of luck man! Your stats look pretty good, nothing to argue with your preflop game.

    #1 is standard with reads

#2 a 12/5´s range on turn is like >70% sets he´s going to c/r, the rest are nfd´s and a retarded TT/JJ. I dont see any value in betting turn

#3 Lead flop 3/4ish. As played I call turn, 12/8 makes me think he has a brain and ur hand looks so like a weak ass AK.

#4 True donks show up with K3 now and then. Not often enough to call tho.

#5 I´d probably snap, but I´m a station. AXss bets flop as most pp´s do, seems like we´re paying off JTs/ATs or catch 22/44/66

#6 as played I shove over. I really cant fold to his min-4bet. You´ve been pushing him around? He goes crazy with 88/99 a lot here.

#7 dont get tricky vs unknowns, its expensive

I'll be there very soon! $100NL is too small for me...

How are the games at $1/2?

Games are pretty much like 100NL, 2 or 3 shortstacks, a ton of bad 18/6-like "regs" and few good TAGs.

    SN there is XTR1k.

    Okay cool.

My plan from now on it to play full ring on iPoker and 5max on Ongame, because the 6max games on iPoker are horrible.

Do you ever use the mini tables?
If yes, how do you get PAHUD to work with them?

Actually the miniview is one the main reasons I stick with iPoker (beside great rb deals )

To set up pahud this will make life easier
    http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...ipn_10_max.jpg

just replace the table image in the pahud folder

Today was okay. Profit = $176

That brings total profit to $202 after my first 3715 hands.

From now on, I think I will be posting all my difficult hands in the FR forum so that I can get some more feedback on them, and that forum needs some more traffic in it anyways.

Here's a fun hand against a 70/0 uber donk who has a note no him saying "will call down with any pair on the scary boards" (he called 2 streets with T5o on a QJT8 board with 2 hearts out there....I had Kh Xh and missed on the river

for full ring i think playing really laggy is optimal. if a nit limps raise him up he is just going to have a pp and fold if he doesnt have a set most of the time.

    What is considered really Laggy?
I am running 16/13 right now with att. to steal blinds at 35%, and I am usually the most aggressive at the table.

So far, I have yet to see anyone with a PFR% higher than 12 (except for the occasional 48/20 type player)

Here's a sample from the past 3 days of everyone in my database with at least 500 hands:

    1 - 6/3
    2 - 16/11
3 - 5/4 (lol how does one run 5/4 and make money?)
    4 - 9/5
    5 - 14/3
    6 - 12/4
    7 - 10/8

That's a small sample but still!!
This is ipoker and Ongame network.

I'm pretty confident that with stats like mine, I should be able to pwn most of these guys.

I haven't played much poker this weekend, but when I did I got smoked.

    I played 350 hands of $200NL 5max and lost $500.

Then I played 750 hands for FR and was up $150 until this hand:

    villain is 30/5/3

    Stacks:

    CO ($165.25)
    BTN ($35.80)
    SB ($211.80)
    BB ($86.79)

    Pre-flop: ($3, 7 players) Hero is UTG+1
1 fold, Hero raises to $7, 3 folds, SB calls $6, 1 fold

    Flop: ($16, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $14, SB raises to $28, Hero calls $14

    Turn: ($72, 2 players)
SB bets $88, Hero goes all-in $169.6, SB calls $81.6

    River: ($411.2, 2 players)

    SB shows:
    Hero shows:

    SB wins $408.2 ( won +$203.6 )
    Hero lost -$204.60

I know this hand is super super standard on the short-handed tables, but I'm starting to have doubts on FR.

Well I opened up my game a bit today and ran about 17.5/15.5 for over 1,000 hands. Att. to steal was at 40%.
It amuses me how if I steal someone's blind 6 times in a row, they will adjust by calling somewhat lighter, instead of 3-betting lighter.

I played 16 tables today for about one and a half hours. I'm up 2.5 buyins but my eyes/head hurt now.

I will probably be moving up to $200NL in April, so I guess when I move up I should probably play less tables, right?

First half month at full ring:

Most of these hands were completed while 16-tabling, which means i only got about 10 hours of full ring since I started...that's weak sauce.
April won't be much better because of final exams and VEGAS on the 19th!!

I am still contemplating moving up to $200NL. However, I still don't have much confidence in my full ring play.

    Here's my graph:

maintain those stats and 200NL will be an easy walk. I´ve encountered not much a difference between 100NL and 200NL when I moved up, the games are just a bit more aggro

    This was a fun session.
    2 hours
    1500 hands
    Profit: -$1.00

My stats were quite lower than normal (13/11)
I think that's because of a combination of things: me running bad and the tables being more aggressive preflop. I don't normally play this early in the morning.

    Hands:

    1)

Today, I broke a personal record of playing the most hands in one sitting.
I 12-tabled $1/2 for 4+ hours while I played a $30 rebuy donkament and made it to the final table.

After 2500 hands of $1/2, I am up $450, and I placed 7th in the tourney for a net profit of $735 (885-150). So that's $1185 total profit for the day

I ran hot in the tourney from about 90 minutes in until I was knocked out.
The first hour was horrible. I had to rebuy three times, and after 60minutes I had only 1900 in chips, so obviously I added on 2000 more.

I was dealt AA three times and doubled up everytime I got them.

Here's the hand that knocked me out:

    Turn: (202720, 2 players)

    River: (202720, 2 players)

    SB shows:

    Straight flush is good!

This is the farthest I've ever made it in a MTT. It's my 2nd final table appearance out of a total of maybe 30 MTTs in my life, so that's good I guess??

I'm not much of a tourney guy, but I did start my poker career off by playing the $6 nine-player turbos on stars. However, once my roll hit about $300, I went to cash games and never looked back!

I waited a bit more before moving to cash (I moved when I had about $2000).
Sometimes I think of playing again a bit of MTT and/or SNGs, but when you compare it with the amount of money you can make in cash: stay in cash!

    QFT

The good thing about MTTs, though, is that they take so damn long that it forces me to play poker longer. There's no way I would have 12-tabled for 4 hours yesterday if it wasn't for that tourney taking so long.

Okay this month I am going to be playing mostly short-handed because it is more fun, and I earn more money and more rakeback that way.

    Today was fun.

I don't see why you tightened up so much when making the move from short handed to FR. Your aggression and obviously good hand reading should have steamrolled the tighter FR opps who don't really know how to handle aggression well.

I actually don't think I tightened up at all. I think I loosened up, relatively speaking.
My att. to steal blinds went up, and I started raising hands from MP3 and HJ positions that I would never raise from UTG and UTG+1 in 6max.
However, I did tighten up a lot on my two barrelling range because it seems like these FR nits never float with air.

It's funny though because lately my 5max stats are super nitty at 18/14, while my FR stats are just slightly less at 16/13.
Whenever I try to open up my game, I just spew too much.
