Another TT hand.

    Default Another TT hand.

I seem to post a lot about TT. This was the first hand of a 10-man $5.50 SnG. If the raise was to 60 or 80 and there were a couple of callers, I would definitely call for set value. Here, I do not like to call and possibly waste 110 more chips, I do not like to re-raise and get involved early, but I also don't like to fold TT. What is the best thing to do in this situation?

Big Blind is t20 (10 handed)

    UTG (t1200)
    UTG+1 (t1200)
    MP1 (t1200)
    MP2 (t1200)
    MP3 (t1200)
    MP4 (t1200)
    CO (t1200)
    Button (t1200)
    Hero (t1200)
    BB (t1200)

    Preflop: Hero is SB with T , T .
UTG raises to t120, 7 folds, Hero ??

Personally I would flat call and see what comes on the flop. Whilst you don't strictly have implied odds to play for set value alone, TT has some overpair value which can make up the difference.

If you have a specific read that UTG is a very tight player/regular, I would fold this however.

I fold this because of position and a lack of reads.
On the button I would call.

I fold. Whilst we do have overpair value, the continuing stream of threads from players who flat with TT and hit an overpair and get confused is testament to how hard most players find it to play that way.
Just dipping my toes back in.

You guys are giving $5.50 players way too much credit. If it was a $25+ buyin I would probably fold too, but in my books anybody who raises 6x BB first hand is a bad player.

Its not about how good UTG is, its how confident hero will be postflop.

We dont have set odds, we probably fold to any overcards, and if we flop overpair and get raised how far are we prepared to go?

    - If the flop comes A/K high, check and see what he does (and probably fold to any bet other than a very small bet)
    - If the flop comes Q/J high, I probably check, call if he bets, check the turn and see what happens.
    - If we flop undercards on a dry flop, C-R all-in. If the flop is undercards but drawy, lead 2/3 pot and call a shove.
    - If we flop a set, either C-R all-in or check/call on a dry flop, otherwise lead/call shove.

That said, I agree with Fnord that being OOP is a really big disadvantage here.

    taipan168,

The problem with that plan is that putting someone this retarded on anything is pretty hard. At least with position he's going feel compelled to make terrible blocking bets and won't get free cards.

why only 1200 starting stack? Just shove it pf. I think his range consists of more 66-JJ AJ+ type hands than monsters.
Shallower starting stacks=less edge. Thus I shove and feel happy about it.

It's on Pacific Poker, they only give you 1200 chips to start. Tight or what?

    Thanks everyone for the replies.
