Default JJ to preflop 3-bet ($27)

Opp's stats were 38/13 over only about 25 hands. What's your move here?

I fold. I'd be more likely to call a push here.

Stats are bad, but not sure he's bad enough to raise with anything worse than AK here. A smaller pair I'd expect to just shove. This looks like he wants action.
Just dipping my toes back in.

I'd also fold this.. early on they do these raises with tighter ranges IMO..

I find a fold here as well.

Calling for half your stack seems bad plus OOP.
Pushing seems bad because I'm pretty sure he's going to call with 3:1 odds.
It's a little early to stack with JJ I think plus I agree with bjsaust -- I think he wants action.

Btw what do the numbers 38/13 mean? Call/Raise? Is that pokertracker? Just curious.

I'd probably sigh deeply and fold.

PT stats yes. VP$IP/PF raise, aka Voluntarily Put $ In the Pot/Pre-Flop raise %.

I agree with the fold. I like how this illustrates what good players do in this situation. This also might be used against good players. I have found some success reraising multi-tablers, winning players, etc..with rags because of their ability to lay down JJ, Ax, etc... in this situation. You have to know the player somewhat and have a good image, but you might be suprised at the frequency with which it works.

call, shove good flops, but I don't think anything you could do would be that bad

    i fold.

On a side note.....his stats are 38/13 (only 25 hands but it's a start) What are "good" number ranges. In other words what should your (my) numbers be around. I tend to play TAG and am usually around 12-18 but with a very high raise percentage. Should I be trying to increase this to 20% or so??

Just started using HUD last month. finally.
It's not how many pots you win, it's what's in them that counts.

I ended up shoving this, he showed me AQ. Agree with everybody that folding was probably the prudent course of action however.

Out of interest, did it flop an A or Q?

fdnypoker: My personal stats after 25k hands are 18/11, that sounds about right I guess. We're going to be super tight early, but once you have a fair sample of short-handed/HU play thats obviously going to skewer the amounts back up again.

thanks bjsaust......I'm loving HUD. Been playing a long time w/o. It's a cool tool.

will keep an eye on the numbers

Re stats: You have to look at it per blind level. I don't have PT here but once I get access to it I'll post what my VP$IP/PFR stats are by various blind level and overall.
