Going to the Casino for the 1st time.

I am going to see Van Halen in Atlantic City this weekend. We are going to be staying at the Borgata. I think I am going to try hold'em there. I have never played NL in a Casino before. How much should I buy in for at a lower blind NL game. For instance ... If I want to play 1-2 NL or 2-5 NL. If I buy in for $500 does that mean that all my chips are in play ??

I highly recommend downloading some software. Pick one of the major sites and play on it for play money. That will get you used to the procedure of playing. Quick answer to your question though is yes. If you buy in for $500 all your chips will be in front of you and at any point in the hand if you want to bet as much as you want up to your $500, lose and your broke, win - you have more. Playing on line will let you quickly learn what the blinds are, how to bet/act, possibly some common bet amounts, etc....[/list]

Well, first off, in case it hasn't been done yet, Welcome to FTR.

I played my first live experience recently though not in a casino. I can't comment on blind amounts vs stack size, though I would think being at $500 for 1-2NL would be an ok starting point. Just realize against bigger stacks you are playing scared. If you can see yourself to a table with smaller stacks, I'd recommend that.

Live play is a lot different from online play, which I assume was your question, personally, I'm sticking with online play.

In AC, Borgata is the place to be for poker. Their poker tables are a lot more active than the rest of the casinos. $4 max rake per hand for FR and if its 6 handed and below, then its $2 capped. Only bad thing is, no BBJ. The best part is, for some reason all the waitress at the borgata are hotttt, unlike the other casino's which harvest usually older, less attractive females.

I'm not sure how experience you are but there are a lot and lottt of bad players there. Not even players, just gamblers having some fun. Much easier than online grinding IMHO.

Right .. I had heard that ... the question is .. should I buy in for max or $150 or $200. Do most people buy in for max ? Also .. I remember reading somewhere that your bankroll should be 10 times the max. So that would be $3000. Is that right ?

If you're new to live play, I would buy-in for $100 and feel the table out. You can always add more.

I played there on Christmas for like 10 straight hours. Its pretty fishy, social and I had a good time. Was up like $850 playing 1-2. I bought in for $250 I think. Alot of the people pay no attention to position and play a ton of pots. If you don't run like dogshit you should have a good chance of winning. You can steal alot by bluffing scare cards .



And yes, i fell in love with 2 or 3 waitresses.
