Maybe it's just me, but I view cell phones and beer as a commodity.
So I can buy cell phone and beer futures? Guess you meant luxury.

The day bush got re-elected was the worst day of my life thus far. Not even joking, I sat in my room and reflected on what I could and should do. Never have I been do dissapointed and confused in all of my life. My apartment contract is up at the end of this month, and my job told me I could transfer up to Canada if I want to leave the country. I think that's probably what I'll end up doing, because at this point in my life. I am ashamed to call myself an american.

HeavyP man that sounds pretty serious. Have you voiced your opinions about bush on the forums yet. If so could you direct me to them. Its cool if thats what you want to do I was just wondering why you feel so unbelievably strong about it. The worst day of your life just seems so extreme. I have never heard of someone believing so strong about their country's president at least not in the US. I would need to have one of my extremities chopped of or have someone close to me die to say that. Canada is phat though. Ive been there on fly in fishing trips before. Plus dude you dont have to pay taxes on your poker winnings.

Why move to Canada? I'm pretty sure they still sell Prozac in the U.S.

I'm not depressed it's just faith in the American populous is gone. The fact that probably 2 supreme justices are going to step down and have Bush replace them does not sit well with me. The fact that he has already appointed Dr. W. David Hager to lead the FDA doesn't sit well with me AT ALL.

During George W's first presidency he had to becareful in order to get re-elected, he couldn't get to most of his agenda because he wanted to be in office again. Now that he has nothing to worry about he is free to roam and do whatever he sees necessary. He plans on expanding on A.) The Patriot Act, which is single handidly should have been enough to not get this man re-elected. As well as the 'Cleaner Skies Act' which does just the opposite, it cut down on the regulations diesel vehicles had to go through.

Granted, worst day of my life seems radical but I haven't had anything worthy of a mood swing. Being 19 and never having to experience a family death or a close friend death makes me a very fortunate person. I KNOW there will be times when I feel worse, but as of right now once Ohio was declared for Bush I was very distraught.

I was talking at work about all of this, and someone has the audacity to come up to me and say "Why don't you love your country?" I was so puzzled, it should be OBVIOUS I love my country. Why else would I be so dissapointed with the populous. The fact that I love my country makes it hard for me to stay here to deal with what will inevitably happen.

I don't know how coherent this is, I'm busy playing 4 tables of 6max at PS right now.

Oh yes Boondock, if you would like to read any of my essays I have written about Bush / Patriot Act / America in general just send me a message. I don't think the majority wants to read through them.

Geez, is it more communist to say you must like and agree with Bush(or anyone else, for that matter), or that it's acceptbable to disagree? I get tired of the "if you're not with me you're against me" mentality, and the homophobia disguised as bullshit psuedo-family values and religous rightousness(and before you ask, no, I'm not gay). There is so much wrong with this post there's not much point commenting further.

I agree with Michael, HeavyP and zenbith. This was a most disappointing and depressing election. Even if you voted for Bush, if you can't find something seriously disturbing about having him as President, you just aren't paying attention.

Let's hear it for the Greens!!!!
I was saddened and disappointed that Cobb didn't win. I really thought this was going to be the year.

(Note the fittingly late response to this thread.)

LIBERALS RETURN TO SODOMY, WELFARE FRAUD

BERKELEY, CA—No longer occupied by the 2004 election, liberals across the country have returned to the activities they enjoy most: anal sex and cheating the welfare system. "I've been so busy canvassing for the Democratic Party, I haven't had a single moment for suckling at the government's teat or no-holds-barred ass ramming," said Jason Carvelli, an unemployed pro-hemp activist. "Now, my friends and I can finally get back to warming our hands over burning American flags and turning kids gay." Carvelli added that his "number-one priority" is undermining the efforts of freedom-loving patriots everywhere.

umm... both of which are a lot closer to the center and at least in obama's case very electable. I fail to see your point?

Idiots like to think people who they aren't going to vote for are unelectable. By idiots I mean pretty much everybody.
