Default Playing ultra passive players heads up?

    This is just an example:

    No Limit Holdem Tournament
    $10+$1
    2 players
    Converted at weaktight.com

    Stacks:
    BTN Hero (5040)
    BB Errato (8460)

    Blinds: 100/200

    Pre-flop: (300, 2 players) Hero is BTN
    Hero calls 100, Errato checks

    Flop: (400, 2 players)
    Errato checks, Hero checks

    Turn: (400, 2 players)
Errato bets 200, Hero calls 200

    River: (800, 2 players)
Errato bets 200, Hero calls 200, Hero says "nh"

    Final Pot: 1200
    Errato shows:
    Hero shows:

    Errato wins 1200 ( won +600 )
    Hero lost -600

He check called EVERYTHING, the entire time we were heads up. Never raised (he reraised me one time preflop towards the end when he was very short, the only time he ever put more chips in the pot than necessary).

I keep thinking there is an obvious way to play this guy, but can't think of it...any help?

Play good cards and valuebet him to death. He's not gonna have KK everytime.

The problem is, heads up my range gets wide (duh) and I can't afford to sit there folding every small blind until I pick up good hands.

He'd call about half of my preflop raises, so I ended up waiting for good cards and playing push/fold.

I really don't know, but there is a Head's Up Forum here on FTR. They probably have a digest and you can probably get better feedback in that forum for your Heads Up specific question. Just something to think about.

    Thank you.

    How often is he folding?

I played a guy kinda like this with a couple twists in a HU no blind increases match a couple times. Game two hit the 1 hour break! After that I tilted and got it in bad 99 vs his QQ because I was just happy to get all the money in with some equity against his (perceived) range.

He would fold his SB about 1/3 of the time, and fold to my PF raises about 1/2 the time.

For a while I tried to chink away with PF raises, which worked and then one hand he'd call me down, turn over TPGK from the flop and get back to where he was before I started chinking.

Don't fire second barrels and don't pot your first barrel. Value bet everything.

Keep chipping away and know that this is going to come down to a draw comming in or you catching him second best.

With relatively deep stacks against a passive player like this I'd raise aggressively from the SB and c-bet the flop if called. If opp calls your c-bet, then give up since you're very likely beat.

The nice thing about players like this is that you lose the minimum when you're beat. On that hand you posted, he could have won a LOT more chips from you on the turn and possibly the river if he'd bet a bit more.

That forum is more relevant to HU matches. It's fine to post HU hands from the end of a full-table tourney here.
