raise to 2600 and call a shove

This is probably the best hand you're going to see before you get blinded out. I think you have two options:

1 - Fold and hope that the shorter stack busts before you do. Then you bust out and take 3rd.

2 - Push all in and race. What is raiser's range? Has he been raising a lot? If he's loose, he may have something as bad as ATo. I would tend to think a pocket pair is more likely. As long as he doesn't have Aces or Kings, you have at least a 45% chance of winning. If he has Ace rag, you have him dominated. You might lose to a pocket pair and take 4th, or you could double up to 2K chips.

Personally, unless the raiser has been extremely tight the whole match, I'm going all in.

    Button calls: fold.

    Button folds: push

^^Only what I would have done, not necessarily what is correct.

I don't think his range is so narrow, myself. It's four handed, UTG is one of the big stacks, without any read I think there's a decent chance this is a steal.

Wouldn't be surprised if he turned over ATC.

sorry if this was unclear to everyone but the button had bet enough to put both of us shorties all in ...the other short folded...

i actually folded my a-k and went on to get third. i think it was correct, because even if i had him killed with a-2...i dont think calling benefits me enough in terms of equity to call...id be interested to see someone do an icm calculation or something of the sort because i dont have the software to do it.

Depends on CO...if you think they could be on top 25% then I would shove. If button shoves its an insta-fold

I disagree with this. If Button shoves, I would definitely shove as well. Then, if UTG wins the hand, you would get 3rd place anyway.

If Button folds though, I would fold too.

Your right, I just checked SNGWiz and it says pushing is incredibly +EV (~5.0). If button folds it does become a fold unless CO is raising 25%+, which could be a reasonable assumption depending on reads

I cant possibly lay down AK here, whatever the action is.

We're not far enough ahead of shorty in chips to start making big ICM laydowns here...
Just dipping my toes back in.

    Agreed
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

Interesting spot which is actually very dependent on how aggressive CO has been. Remember, he's raising into the fellow big stack so we can't assume that he's necessarily raising super wide here.

If we assume that if we shove, BB shoves back over CO's raise with 8% (66+, AT+) and CO calls the shove with 3% (JJ+, AK) and similarly if we fold, BB shoves over with 8% and CO calls with 3%, then CO needs to be raising 50% to make this a good shove over. Therefore, it depends on reads on CO - if he has been pwning the bubble with the big stack then I shove over, if he's been quiet, a fold is not out of the question.

As other said, in a game I would shove over every time but it does make for an interesting ICM problem.
