Default SAGE (Sit and Go Endgame System)

Was just recently pointed into the direction of this article by a fellow FTR'er and found it to be a very interesting read. After reading it, I felt it deserved a thread here in the SNG forum and at least some discussion on the accurancy of the system, and whether or not any of the more experienced SNG players here implement said system into their game.

    Here's the article:

I guess first thing I'm wondering is if any regs here know about this system, and if so do they use this system when the conditions are correct. If no, why?

Hmm, read it before. Whilst I dont "use" it, it normally wont be too far off what I would do anyway.
Just dipping my toes back in.

Seems like a pretty effective way to help make the +ev decisions in HU. Will give it a go next time I meet the conditions for it to apply. But I'm not really sure the conditions (7bb or less effective stack) occur all that often, or at least for an extended period of time.

I sorta play a variation of this and it works well. The idea is to be mathematically unexploitable. You can adjust it to how tight or loose your opponent is. Try it as prescribed and adjust it as you see fit. You'll get a feel for it after a while. According to my stats, I've got twice as many firsts as seconds so I guess it works pretty well.

Very interesting. I'm definitely going to try this out and see if it works.

My heads up game sucks right now, so I am definitely going to give this a go and see what results I get. Much thanks.

I remember seeing a charted version of this on the 2+2 monthly release a while back. It had accompanying EV graphs that showed what happened to your opponent as they strayed from the optimal calling ranges relative to the BB. Needless to say, too tight/too lose was masssssssive -EV.

Under 10BB I think I remember reading that pushing ATC was something like 40-45% to win. So, this tweaking and optimizing when you should actually fold is pretty useful. At that point you're not getting any reads unless they pick up something monstrous, so you really do NEED to know the mathematical way to win at that point.

This will probably help quite a bit then; however, make sure you are using it when it applies. In my current SNG state (I play regular speed), the conditions don't seem to arise very often, or at least not for extended periods of time. I hear in turbos, or live SNGs, the conditions arise much more and this is a pretty useful system then.

I don't usually play the turbos because I feel like I don't have a chance for any good hands before I'm forced to make marginal decisions, but maybe I'll do a few and try this out in those, beccause yea, in regular SnG's, especially low buy-ins where your down to 3 people with the blinds still at 60/120 it isn't really applicable.
