Default When to get into push fold mode in a tournament

When do you guys usualy stop standard raising and start just pushing and folding. I've heard less than ten BB but is that the same when there are ante's. Around what M do you start playing this way.

Personally I take the antes into account and hit push/fold mode when M<6. However if the table is playing unusually tight and/or if I get dealt a monster and haven't pushed pf yet, I will sometimes carry on raising 2.5x to steal/get action.

I think the firm answer is <5 BBs with no ante, <7 BBs with ante you should for sure move in (maybe you open limp AA/KK if you think people are really silly)

    beyond that, it depends

Take similar ish hads like A7 vs 22. If you are the SB and it's folded to you, you should be much more inclined to shove 22 that A7 in most cases, because there are a lot of hands you're 60/40 against or better that might shove over, whereas you're flipping against almost every hand with the 22. But, if BB might fold something like 44 if you shove the A7, you should shove that too.

Also, take into account how your hand may flop - I'd shove K2o more than Q9s because you'd much rather get called and try and play a flop with Q9s than K2.

If you are against the blinds and you think they are capable of stop and go-ing you, you should shove a hand if you'll have to fold it unimproved.

    6 M is shove
however building a stack really relies on ur 10-12 preflop raise 2.5x late positional bets to build ur stack. ur wanting a fold and mebbe continuation bet in position and hope ur opp missed.

If you standard raise with 10 BB's you are committed to calling an all in. Sometimes people think they have fold equity and will 3 bet you when otherwise they would have folded to a push, creating unnecessary confrontations for your whole stack. IMO, only time you should be doing anything but folding or going all in with 10 BB's or less is when you have QQ, KK, or AA.

I use M as a guide to tell me when I can't afford to be 3 bet when I try to steal. When I am around 10M, I look for hands that I don't mind calling all ins when shoved upon or I am looking to resteal from the blinds.

Depending upon on variables like the players in blinds and my hand dictate if I'm pushing when 10bbs from late position with almost any two cards. When standard raising against happy calling bad competition that doesn't know that they should be shoving over my 3xbb raise when my stack is a little over 10bbs, I will just open shove. This is normally with hands that do well seeing all 5 cards.

As with anything in this game, it is not always just one play. Don't look at it as the only option or the standard for when 10bbs, 7M, etc. You have to look at all the variables. I have a hard time doing that as well.

I probably should write this on my arm while I'm playing...
