It would depend on how the SB had been playing. If he had been raising loads and you think he would fold to a push, maybe I would push, but I mostly fold here. I don't like going up against another biggish stack with 77.

yeh this is less about the read and more about the concept of pushing here and the fact that one could be better off taing pots in position and avoiding a likely flip

I think in general, you will get better spots than this. It does depend on reads though, especially with this hand as I think it is a borderline fold.

Bet sizes are often a good indication of their intentions, especially from weaker players. This guy has just stated he wants to get his whole stack in the middle, so good fold.

Also, its never a good idea to mess with another bigstack. Now, if he's decent he'll know that too and fold a LOT of his range, but unfortunately for all our clever strategys most opps arent decent and when he makes a -EV call it doesnt make it any better for you.

shove, we're a flip vs top 25 and he may fold some hands he should not like QT and I doubt he can get away from any PP here so now and then we get to be a huge favorite.

I don't really understand the comments about a big stack, our stack size is perfect to put pressure on. If you'd play against a smaller stack with no FE, why not play here?

I did think this after I posted. As bjsaust said though, usually when someone makes a big over-raise, they very rarely fold to a shove, at least at the level I play. Then, usually, you are at best a flip. Occasionally you will be up against a lower pair but these people call with things like KQ, KJ, QJ, etc. as well as AK, AQ and overpairs.
I just thought a fold would be better in this situation. I did think it was close though. I really think this situation depends on reads.

This is very read dependent. If SB has been very tight, not having made position raises/steals then I would think abou folding this. If I've seen SB raise and make retarded calls with hands like QTo for twice a starting stack I would also fold. Without those reads, in a game I would definitely shove over. We have HUGE leverage considering our stack size, opp should only call with a monster hand.

There is a HUGE ICM effect happening here, if he raised with QT he has to instamuck to our shove.

    Raise to 1,500 or shove.

Has to and will are two different things though. Opp needs to be good enough to know he needs to fold if we shove, and so often he isnt.
