25% ROI but do I continue at $5.50 turbo's?
Hello all,
In the past I have been quite a successful normal tournament player playing mostly on Full Tilt, achieving a ROI around 15%. I wasn't playing ICM but I got pretty good at reading players' hands, which was a pretty handy skill to learn. I found I could make good laydowns and thus mantain a positive ROI.
Eventually I stopped playing for a while on Full-Tilt (as my ROI dropped from 25% to around %15), I got a bit edgy. I felt I was making the 'right' decisions but kept on being handed defeats. So instead I read up on limit poker and moved $50 to Party Poker (bonus whoring :P ), where I found I'm not all that good at it. I'm pretty much a break-even ring limit player.
Then I remembered to come back to FTR and I watched a fantastic video by bjsaust showing how to use ICM on low limit tables. I thought I'd give it a go. I moved $50 to Tower Gaming and started playing $5.50 turbo STT. I know this isn't the best bankroll management, but at that stage I had around $200 spread over various sites.
This aside over the last two weeks I have played almost 60 games there and am fluctuating between around 25%-35% ROI. They use 3 min blind increases, the games go pretty quick rarely lasting longer than 1/2hr (and I am 2 tabling as well).
Here's the technically bit. Usually the games end up pretty short-stacked with 5-6 players (say 5-10x bb). Sometimes getting ITM seems like a bit of a luck-fest. Given my ROI so far am I making a good choice to continue here? Sometimes I can go on long non-placed finish streaks (5 or 6 games) . I'm now sitting on around $150 (which I think is probably adequate for the cost of the tourney), but I'm worried about whether I should continue. I think this may have to do with my experience in the past where my ROI dropped. Do I need to press ahead and work past these feelings?
