Seems like a straightforward shove to me. How would you play AK in this situation?

Without a read that UTG limps monsters, shove without thinking too hard.
Just dipping my toes back in.

I'd shove AK easily but with AQ I feel like I'll get dominated a lot.. Is it wrong? What if my stack size was 1500?

I see this situation all the time. If the blinds were at the next level or 2 its a shove. With 13 BBs, I'd much rather raise to 350 or 400 here.. if the UTG shoves I'd consider folding as it might be a monster.. sometimes I might call depending on how aggro he is. If he is raising a lot of pots before this point I'd be very suspicious, if he is limping a lot, I wouldn't. t900 is still plenty to work with at this point even if you did fold. Most of the time, however, you will win the dead money out there right now, and that's always your goal.

Keep in mind you are the next to the shortest stack and you will have to make a stand somewhere.. if not with AQs, then with what? Is this a turbo? If not, a raise/fold is okay. If its a turbo, go all the way.

    Hope this helps.

    raise/fold???? HELL NO. lol

With a 13bb stack, you either shove (I prefer), raise/call shove (ehh, ok. I prefer this with AK.).... or fold (no).

Raising and then folding is a bad idea. A raise here of 350-400 is almost 25% of your stack. Folding 25% of your stack is never pretty.

Not to mention, what do you do when he calls your raise? If you don't hit the flop, do you call his shove on the flop? What about his raise? What are you doing after he checks?...he's limp/called and checking the flop ....sounds like trouble.

My vote is that you trust your read. If he didn't limp any monsters before, grit your teeth, and get ready for a flip or to be dominated.

I would shove, picking the pot preflop is a good result 4 u

There are only two additional hands that you are fearing that opp has when you have AQ rather than AK in this spot - and they are QQ and AK. Although it is not impossible that opp might limp these hands UTG, it's pretty unlikely. Therefore, AQ plays like AK here. (AQ doesn't always play like AK if you raise and get shoved over, however).

If your stack size was 1500 I would probably still shove over - any time there is 15% or more of your stack size in the pot preflop and you have a non-monster hand (or AK) that you want to play I tend to just shove it.

Its ok to fold to a shove occasionally with AQ, if this isn't a turbo. 1000 is a good enough amount of chips to pick a better spot.

Thats fair...I just don't like the idea of losing 25% of my stack here.

FYI this is a turbo so I wouldn't raise-fold here also..

Tai if I was in the BB and everybody else folded after UTG's limp I'd definitely shove but I'm mostly scared about the rest of the table..
