"Play Chips" !!???

So, I'm a casual live 100nl player but im always looking for ways to improve my game when I'm not able to visit a card room or casino. All of the poker sites offer the free "Play Chip" tables and what I was wondering is if anyone uses these games in order to improve their own game when playing for REAL money. In my short experience it seems that not many people play "seriously" when it comes to these tables. I see a lot of situations that I almost never see while playing for real cash. (3-betting with complete garbage, calling with complete garbage etc.) Is there really anything to learn from playing with people like this? Its obviously nothing like how a serious poker game should be played. Basically I want to know if you guys think there is any benefit to using these free tables, or if i should focus elsewhere on improving my game?

no benefit at all. As you said they are horrible players, and you won't learn anything against them really. I suggest tossing $50 or however much you can spare on a site and playing that way if you wish to improve your game or make some money.

Or at least play freerolls.

With play money, I learned that a high card and a low card unsuited is not a good hand.

The only thing play money is good for is teaching the rules of the game to total newbies.

a good thing about making a deposit is that you can get really good playing online... most of the online pros are 10x better than the average live pro... in fact ive been to a casino a bunch of times since i turned 21, and ive seen a lot of regulars, whom im guessing try to make a living off of poker im not too sure... but every single one of them is a horrible player.
make a deposit grind your way up, and learn at the same time... it will greatly increase your poker game, and you will be laughing at how easy live play is

I didnt know that...Is online play really that much more tough? Is there a particular reason why or ??

Someone who studys and plays online can apply and understand concepts alot faster then someone who plays live. Online just playing 4 tables you can play anywhere from 200-400 hands depending on table speed and if it's 6max or full ring. Live the fastest tables you get is ~30h/hr so playing online vs playing live is ~10x faster. DUCY now? An online pro can play for 1 year and improve his game as much as a live pro who plays for 10

Twice as many hands per table, as many tables as you can handle. Its a question of volume. A lot of the guys here will see more hands in a month than live pros will see in a year.
