Default SB push with A3s into BB or standard raise?

    Here's the hand....

Table 'Monte Carlo': 400-400 No Limit HE (TournamentChips)
Seat 3: Hero (4,280 in chips)
Seat 4: dezzieboy (5,390 in chips)
Seat 5: Sparta86 (5,330 in chips) (on the button)
    *** Blind Bet Round *** :
    Hero : Post Blind (200)
    dezzieboy : Post Blind (400)
    Dealt to Hero: Ac3c

    Sparta86 : Fold
    Hero : Bet (4,080)
    Hero All In (4,280)

Should I be looking at a standard raise here to $1000-$1200 or just open shoving as I did here? SNG WIZ says it's a push. In fact it seems to be a push whatever his calling range is (I thought his was around 20-30%). I was a little undecided on what to do as I don't really want to see the flop here, plus it opens up the way for my opponent to come over the top with ATC. If the opponent calls and I miss the flop a CB would surely commit me to the pot and if I check I'm giving up the pot.

It seems like to me this one is a push and hope for a fold? Any thoughts?

This is an autopush with any two against most opponents, with a semi-ok hand like A3s I'd have a hard time finding a fold here ever.

    2 questions from me

    1. Is he going to 'call' a raise here and not just shove
    2. Are we folding when he re-shoves always?

easy push imo. Raising is horrible though, your outta position and a 3x creates a pot of 6x if called, you have 7x behind, and pushing the flop would then give him about 2:1 odds.

another way, you got an M of 8, giving you 24 hands to earn some chips. in this case, i push any ace, all pp, suited Qs, Ks, and all hands J10+. probably some leaks here, but i think its time to gambol.

    1. Potentially he could call here if he had a mediocre hand, or thought he could outplay me (with position) on the flop. I suspect most opponents either fold or push in this spot, which makes a standard raise rather pointless (and a rather good way of losing 1/4 of your stack if you fold).

    2. With A3s, I would say if we are always going to be calling anyway we should get all the chips in first. This makes his decision tougher as obviously we can't fold. If I did happen to standard raise something like 800 chips, I would almost certainly have to fold it to a reraise.

My thought is that standard raising in this spot is just donking off chips. The only time I would use it is to induce our opponent to push over the top.

You just told yourself the answer. Running into a hand in this spot always sucks because your almost always dominated, but its a clear +EV shove

mmm ... i ran into 99 here. I guess I just had thoughts "what if I didn't put the whole stack in there or what if I folded the hand?" After some help and thought I've decided that continuing and not putting it all in is a pretty bad idea!

Anyone have any thoughts on what they would do with a hand like Q2 in this same situation? I think I would fold it bearing in mind I still have 10BB, but I suppose there is room to push ATC.

EDIT: I was so curious I ran this through SNG WIZ. I suspected a fold, which is true if the opponents calling range is 20-30%. Interesting a calling range of 15% is a definite push. So that's an opponent calling with PP, A8+, KTs+, A4s+, which is not beyond belief considering the evenness of the stack sizes.

I shove this pretty much all of the time unless I have a very specific read that opp calls pushes stupidly wide. Standard raising then wondering what to do if you get shoved over or called is really bad.

With a hand like Q2 I would fold it with pretty even stacks around 10x BB, I think there are better spots.
