    Default mtt woes

    New here so howdy!

I'm a 10NL cash grinder, with a decent enough win rate. I usually 'treat' myself to an MTT after a really profitable session. Lame I know! But I've been trying to get into them a bit more recently and play a few daily.

My roll is around $600 atm and I've been advised to play the $2/180 turbos on stars by a few people. My problem seems to be that all these tournaments go the same: I play tight at the start, trying to see the odd cheap flop with decent implied odds. My stack dwindles down as I'm playing too tight. Eventually I end up shoving when M gets low and either doubling up or getting busted. Cycle repeats. When it gets to the level of bling stealing im fairly solid with shove/fold ranges, but I rarely seem to get that far.

What would you advise? Have these turbo tournaments just got loads of variance? Should I play a different tournies? Or do I just suck lol? Thanks in advance.

    edit: ridic spelling

Of course they have a lot of variance.
I think it's a huge mistake to just try to get to see a flop cheaply. This will really eat away your stack. Especially in turbos, I would just stick to top ranking hands. You can't play a MTT like you play a cash game, read the articles on MTT strategy if you haven't already.

I'm personally not a fan, and I rarely play them online, because for the most part what gets you ITM is very conservative ABC poker. And you might play for 4 hours and finish on the bubble... I think it's a really frustrating format.
If there were any cheap HORSE tournaments - that I would play.
