These are the basic stats that you will see most people referring to when talking about online players.

The first is VPIP , Voluntary Put Into Pot - and tells you how often this person is putting money into the pot, 20 for instance means 20 times out of 100 he's putting money into the pot voluntarily pre flop, 20 is a bit on the high side for microstakes should be about 16ish.

16 is PFR or pre flop raise - it's the amount of times he's raised before the flop and shows you his aggression pre flop.

the last AF (Aggression factor) is meant to indicate aggression accross all streets (not just pre flop) .

Bear in mind the stats are only as good as the sample they're based over you need a number of hands before you can read much into them.

Generally the higher someones VPIP is the lower their AF should be, if they have high VPIP and AF it's a sure sign that they are maniacs =)

Programs like Poker Tracker and Holdem Manager generate these stats for you by monitoring the hands you play and the hands your opponents play.

Now you know the terms you can search the forum for more detailed info if required, these are the 'core' stats - that most people use when working out what type of player they are up against.

This is quite a nice thread to start exploring from if you're so inclined ;p
