You bet less in tournament poker to conserve chips and because most players can't afford to splash around as much (without commitment) as they are also trying to conserve chips.

In cash games, chips are a non-factor and usually the money is deeper. So building big pots, planning hands and being sticky for small bets (relative to stacks) against people who make a lot of small bets is ideal.

Also, hold'em with an ante rewards early street aggression. NLHE with no ante rewards good planning and more selective aggression as you're not punished as harshy for giving up on the flop after a 3x or 4x raise pre-flop.
