Default I object! Would you call this push?? (Q8 offsuit) in BB

this hand is actually taken from this HH that was mentioned in another post by Jdubs (Hand 9):

he got flamed for his call:

H9- Yes you are getting 2-1 on your money. But your also a 3-1 dog, you loose in the long run.

We're getting ~2.5:1 pot odds here, how are we not calling? Lets figure that A-10 is the absolute worst hand he could be pushing with, and we'll even say he won't push with 66 or lower.

Our equity versus his absolute tightest range is still

    Making this a call.

I realize its very close but at most its a small error versus his pushing range, I call every-time. Remember this is assuming he doesn't push any wider, if he does, its even more correct to call. Remember he's UTG, the blinds will be hitting him next hand, leading me to believe he would be pushing lighter. If I were in the SB I may even shove this to isolate unless BB had an uberstack or was calling light.

Now of course there are other considerations to take into effect here, like the rest of the tables stack sizes, escalating payout scale etc, but I think that the pot odds is the main part of this problem and dictate a call.

    Thoughts??

No good player would ever fold here. That range you posted is impossibly tight (which you know). It's actually not very close at all.

This is one of those situations where you don't like making the call, but you have to do it.

    Default I stand corrected!

Ill prove this hand myself since I was the original accuser.
    pot total with hero's call is 8475. 2400 invested chips/total pot 8475= 28%

I widened villains range just to prove the point mcatdog was making. I placed villain in top 15% and it came out as such. Jdubs is a 30.74%-69.25% dog against villains range.

So we take his equity, 30.74% x 8475 (total pot) = 2605 tourney chips. Long term this is a +EV play.
