Default Bubble HH - need help

    ok guys, as suggested.

Here is part the bubble part of my last SNG. VERY typical scenario.

In the hand where i re-raise with A7 pre flop i was just getting sick of having my blinds stolen. I mean it was clockwork and i never had a hand.

The Tournament Trimmer (v1.1.4w) was developed by JeffreyGB at http://www.FlopTurnRiver.com.

    ---Tournament Summary---
    $1.10 SNG: Finished 4/9 for $0
    Data for 49 hands.
    You played 19 hands (38.78%)
You raised 11 times preflop (22.45%)

Hand 2 - If your going to raise here (and I almost always wouldnt without a read that its a tight player who limp/folds a lot), it needs to be at least 3x. A 6k stack likely isnt going to fold to your minraise of 150 very often

Hand 3 - preflop is good, you don't want to raise this and play out of position. Flop bet isnt bad but it would be better if it were around 200-250

Hand 4 - i think this is a standard raise preflop, but again the minraise gives too good of odds to the BB. This flop is great for a cbet because its the bubble and theres a stack with less than 4BB's out there. You can pretty much guarantee he's folding everyone but an ace or flopped sets

Hand 6 - good, but you might as well just shove

Hand 7 - this isnt bad if you think you can exploit him postflop...but I'd want a more playable hand (like suited connectors). A hand like A7 misses a lot of flops and is similar to the QJ/KJ situation I mentioned before (even good flops with an ace often result in u losing your stack because someone has a better ace)

This is a very bad flop to raise because there are so many drawing hands plus hands that you are already behind. I'd recommend just folding the flop. The river call is bad, all you beat is a bluff and almost every draw has gotten there

Hand 9 - push preflop...the minraise from the button is often a weak hand. TT is in very good shape against most peoples ranges here and just calling and giving up on bad flops is losing value

Hand 10 - Stop minraising!!!! its for donks only bet more on the flop, your giving pretty good odds for Ax to call

    Hand 11 - just shove

Hand 12 - fold preflop. i know it looks pretty but your for the most part in push/fold mode with 13bb's. playing postflop is awkward with this stack.

Hand 13 - raise/folding any hand is pretty bad because of how short BB is. shoving is here almost always correct. you've been pretty aggressive in blind vs blind spots in this tournament, so I might actually fold this to protect your image

Hand 14 - fold preflop, you arent deep enough and its a trash hand on the bubble. You should almost never be calling on the bubble, especially in this situation. Ignore pot odds here, the cost of bubbling makes this unprofitable

Hand 16 - Even with a shortstack, this is unprofitable. You should shove about AJ+ 77+ here.

    Hand 18 - you need something like A8s+ 55+

    Hand 19 - fine

    cheers fella

i know i know, min raising is for donks.

i will say though, that some micro tables establish a sort of unspoken bet amount. Everyone is folding to small raises so i don't want to shove a 5th or a quarter of my stack on a raise if they go all in. You know how volatile short stacks are.

I'm not disagreeing i'm just saying that i wasn't min raising unconsciously. It aint +EV but sometimes if i'm getting no cards for ages, i lose confidence with raising. Or if i've had a string of bad beats.

Any overall comments? i was bleeding chips. Is it clear why?

I just went up a level coz i was sick of $1 donks. Came 1st in a $3 with some outstanding plays if i may say so. Gonna post that just to show off (coz usually i just moan).

66 hand: don't complete the small blind what are you doing raise that
A7 hand: if you're going to play that, reraise him so he knows you're not taking his crap
    TT hand: reraise
KJs hand: bet the flop, you have outs to the best hand and it looks like a flop that could hit you
49o hand: just shove it PF because he has under 10BB
or fold, I dislike the minraise because of how short the guy is
A3s hand: I like shoving here and collecting the limps. If they had a better hand they'd raise. Sometimes you'll run into something like ATo, which is unfortunate, but usually this is good to pick it up

Let me just say you're playing much better here than in your first HH.

    Hand 7
A7 - just fold to the raise.
On the flop if you want to take this, I would make it 600, but you need to give up when you get called. On the river there are 4 to a straight on the board and you have bottom pair...

    Hand 10
QQ - Obviously - raise to at least 450 PF.

    Hand 12
KJ I think this has been commeted on enough. +1 on just folding PF, and obviously don't minraise. post-flop seems fine.

    Hand 13
You need to raise him all-in. As played you would need to call him.

    Hand 15
Consider pushing all-in. There's 600 already in the pot.

    Hand 16
Bad position, bad hand. I would just fold this. I think you're overvaluating random face cards. A2 has you beat.

    Hand 17
I would much rather see you push all-in in a situation like this. Much less risky.

That's a horrible reason to move up... but you're still at micro limits so you're not putting much at risk by doing it... but realize that this is a bad decision BR management wise.

If a 3xbb raise would be a quarter of your stack, then you should consider going into push-fold mode. There are rare situations where you should make a normal PF raise with a stack like that.
But that wasn't the case in your QQ hand. You had plenty of chips, your opponents had plenty of chips. If it folds to the bb, that's just as good.
Let's just take a look at one scenario: BB is 100 - you raise 200 get called by the BB and take it on the flop - you just made 200 profit

If you raise 300, get called and take it on the flop - you just made 400 profit. You only need to get called half as much that way - and you're easily getting called half as much.

The bad run of cards only exists in your head. In reality the next hand is not connected in any way to the hand you had before, or the hands you will get next. Don't let that influence your play.

ah, push fold. Is there any greater way to spend your money?

i sometimes see short stacks become very aggressive and end up raking it in. I see them working it like they had a big stack, rasing 500 and all they have is 1100 total.

What about the psychology of going all-in. See we talk about fold equity. You win if they call and you beat them + you win if they fold. But... if they call and they beat you, you're out of the game and they're ITM. Very attracting calling prospect. Especially if they have you covered chips wise.

That's what i tend to raise rather than go all-in. It sounds strange but i consistently find that when i've got a nice stack, the cards come and when i'm short stacked, i'm clutching toilet paper. This way my blinds are as good as gone.

All the hands that i've been told to push make me nervous.

Just wish there was a way around that scenario. It's so ugly when everyone is tight as fuck, your blinds are getting stolen and the shortest stack is so aggressive that you then become the shortest stack.

Anything you can do when you're blinds are getting raped by the big stack? i've tried biting back, it just results in my losing half my stack.

But i shall certainly try to stop min raising and go all-in more *gulp*

Thanks for the comments about my improvements.

wow...why ask for help if your going to ignore it?

I define "short stacked" as being so short that your stack would take a massive hit if you standard raise preflop, c-bet the flop, get called or raised and have to give up - and this could be as much as 13x BB. When you're short stacked, by definition the blinds (and antes, if any) constitute a significant part of your stack. Therefore, stealing the blinds without a fight becomes very important - and, as you pointed out, even if you're called when you've shoved with crap you're never totally dead, in fact the worst you usually are is a 2:1 dog.

Everytime somebody calls me a donk, idiot or whatever for making a correct shove, getting called and sucking out, I pat myself on the back and smile

The other reason to shove rather than standard raise if you're short stacked is that if you get shoved over, you are very often priced in to call the shove (due to pot odds) but you lose the opportunity to potentially fold out the hand that shoved over if you had open shoved yourself.

As for the "fear factor" of shoving, after you've played many SNGs, you just close your eyes and shove, and whatever happens happens
