Hi chaps.

Thanks to everyone for their help with my HH and things. Was having an awful run on variance today and was sick of $1 idiots calling with weird hands and never knowing how the hell to read them. Some god awful plays out there.

Players calling anything down to the river, then turning over ABSOLUTELY nothing... then with 250 chips, going on to win the game?!?!? WTF?!

So i played $3 and owned this game. Funny, i looked up my old stats and the first time i played a $10 i came 2nd, then the next time i came first. But these $1 have been killing me.

Congratulations on the win, well done! You seemed to have taken on board the advice that you've been given about preflop hand selection, and I really liked your aggression with the big stack.

1. Q8s - if you complete preflop, you can sometimes bet this flop for 30-40 or so and take it down right there. Nothing wrong with the way you played it though.

2. TT - fine. You can raise preflop if you like but limping from early position is OK too.

3. ATo - I would definitely raise this preflop, make it 120 to go.

4. K7o - I just try to check the hand down since a lot of hands that beat you will call this bet. Also, if you are going to bet, no need to overbet the pot, 80-100 is plenty.

T A BU (M = 21.47; f+f+f+f+c+F) (between 4 and 5) - hmm, I at least call here if not raise. Bit of a tough spot though.

5. KQs - Fold > call >>> raise in this spot for me. Also, if you are going to raise, make it 200 rather than 250 since you get called pretty often here.

6. Q9s - raise is fine, but make it 150 rather than 250, saves you 100 chips if the BB shoves over (or calls and you miss the flop).

7. AQo - just put him all-in preflop, saves the embarrassment of misclicking on the flop (trust me, I've done it).

8. KQo - I would probably fold this from UTG on a 7-handed table, even with your stack.

9. AJo - meh this one is real close between folding and raising but I definitely don't hate raising. Once you raise, you're priced in to call the shove, you can't fold this.

10. KJo - if you're raising, make it 400 to go rather than min raising.

A 4 BU (M = 15.89; f+f+f+F) (between 10 and 11) - with your stack, I would definitely make it 400 to go.

13. 88 - again, 400 rather than 300 to go.

14. AJo - I usually bet this flop since you don't want to give a free card to KQ or 98 (or, as it turns out, Q9). 800 or so seems good. These low buyin players almost automatically expect you to check the flop with trips so betting your strong hand can perversely disguise the strength of your hand!

16. T9o - with your stack, I wouldn't stop raising here. 500 to go again.

4 K BU (M = 20.62; f+f+F) (between 16 and 17) - raise it up again, use your big stack!

18. Q9o - if you have seen the SB limp and fold to a raise previously, I just put him all in from the BB. As played, definitely bet the flop. Another broadway card might either kill your action (or kill you if opp makes an ace high straight).

21. A5o - just check it down here and co-operate with the other player, you gain a LOT of equity by eliminating the short stack. You would kick yourself if the shorty had 9x or 66-88 and you just folded the other player's Qx or weaker Kx with your bet.

22. A5o - 500 not 400 to go. As played, bleh if you bet (even a smaller bet) you can't fold to the shove.

25. ATo - good!

26. 73s - just fold this, it's not worth it.

27. KQs - just make it 600 to go rather than shoving. You hardly ever get called by a hand you beat here so the risk/reward profile is all screwy.

28. 98o - no more donkminraising!

29. 99 - good!

30. K4s - I raise it up preflop, as played - bet 300 not 600 - no need to overbet.

31. J8o - fold preflop. As played, shove over on the flop, top pair is very often the best hand HU, even on a monotone board. You would kick yourself if you just call his donkminraise and a fourth comes on the turn. As played, I think you have to check it down because you have no idea whether you are ahead or behind. Don't make such a tiny bet on the river, you bet like 1/5 of the pot or something, this doesn't achieve anything really.

32. Q8s - no more donkminraising.

33. AJo - shove over preflop rather than calling - you're way way ahead of his range, I am fistpumping to get such a great hand HU when opp has 11x BB left. If you miss the flop and opp bets, you may well fold the best hand. As played, I bet the flop although check-raising isn't too bad since the flop is reasonably dry other than the potential club draw.

So i'm really getting a lot of telling offs for min raises. It's really because at times i find it hard to see 150/200 chips as 'min' especially i'm i'f short stacked... but then it's good ol' push/fold game. My favourite *sigh*

So i hear ya, no more min raises.

And i LOVE that idea about not chasing someone off the pot if a shorty is all-in! we all want shorty out and two people in a pot rather than just me increases the odds of them leaving the table! why didn't i think of that!

The cards just came in that game, so it was a little easier. And having a large stack makes decisions much less stessful. If i can learn to get through the evil bubble game then i'll be set.

Because really good bubble play is where a good proportion of the money is made in SNGs, and there's nothing more fun in SNGs than being the big stack on the bubble and pounding your opponents senseless when they're folding like little girls
