Default $5 - Medium pairs in the SB

When the blinds get to this level, I am no longer set mining, however in these 2 instances I think it is OK...agree?

Now what if our stack was something like 1000? Only 50 to call which is less than 10% of our stack. Seems like an easy call still, but how often are we going to get paid off here if we hit our set?

i would do exactly the same thing from the SB,complete it and got set mining.from EP and MP might be different as you either might have limped, and get raised from LP and are forced to call the raised because of the odds.

sometimes i throw it at this blind levels, sometimes i dont.at the stack size you have,im tempted to limp it.

both are standard IMO.. no problem..

if you were not SB though, I'd either raise or fold depending on the limpers..

Both are standard preflop, however on Hand 1 I am tempted to call the donkminbet and see what he does on the turn. Sucks to be OOP however.

    Hand 2 is fine postflop.

I wouldn't do it because of the ace.. I would do it if it wasn't an Ace though.. There are just too many donk Ace hands on his range..

I don't see a problem with this BUT...What are your stats on the limper??? I think in both instances, assuming this the same limper, that you throw out a 4x raise and pick up the chips. IF this is a guy limping alot, you can prob rep the ace and take it down on the flop. If this is a guy that likes to get involved in a lot of pots and raise you up then I like the play. I really think this is read dependant on the limper(s) though. (also assuming you have a tight image)

I don't hate this play, but the problem at $5 tourneys is that a) you very often get called preflop and on the flop, meaning that you often burn 500 chips with this play rather than just 50-150 if you complete the SB and call the flop bet. Ax is very squarely within a $5 player's limping range, they will almost never fold Ax to a 4x raise and they will never ever fold any ace on this flop.

I'm in the "it depends" area on these. Might sound silly but with 77 I'm usually leaning toward completing and taking set odds. With 88 I'm more apt to make an aggressive move and raise the limper.

IMHO I think we are ahead of the villain's limping range in both hands. With the 88 hand, if I do decide to raise and he calls I'm going to have to go all the way with it and I'll shove all but the worst flops.

In hand 2, if Hero bets out post-flop, say 1/2 pot, does BB lay down?

I'm putting an A in BB range, but not necessarily something he has, he didn't raise it up, checked it pre- so his range is anything... his betting the T makes me think he has a Tx, would hero have been better suited to bet out post-flop?
