Default First SnG History, $1.25 at Full Tilt

Hey everyone, I've been reading the site for a while, and figured I should start participating

A little background: I like many other poker newbs, did the classic $50 deposit, which was dumb I realized, but alas, I will have to just work hard to make that turn into something more significant.

Started with .25/.50 Limit, had a $45 run which turned right back around. Switched to .10/.20 NL, had a $40 run which turned right back around. I started reading and learning to try and improve and decided to switch to SnGs. At that point, my bankroll was at around $40. I played the $2.25s for a while, had much more consistent success, built back up to $80 but hit a bad run where my pushes would be >75% but everything was getting cracked. I'm still at around $70 but I moved down to the $1.25s so I can just slowly build my roll to a much more comfortable level.

The whole tourney (ended up getting 2nd) is on the FTR Tournament Trimmer #4293. I couldn't post a link cause I don't have 10 posts...yet. So just add Online-Poker-Tournament-4293{dot}html to flopturnriver{dot}com

I've also pulled some selected hands to see what others think...

Hand 1 - i would raise 180 preflop, i think you have to call the other 245
Hand 2 - i check behind and hope he checks on the river, this could be wrong though because a check does look weak on the turn.

    Hand 3 - i fold i'm sure i'm beat

Hand 4 - looks like a bluff but i'm leaning towards folding but again i'm not sure if thats right.

Hand 5 - i check i think you only get called by a hand that beats you he could of been on a diamond draw so check it

i'm kinda in the same boat as you so these could be wrong , just my opinion,

    Hand #1 (5):
I ended up calling, showing pair of As queen kicker to Jacks king kicker.

    Hand #2 (11):
Bet half the pot (700) and took it down. The villain had been playing pretty weak up this point and I still had the gutshot straight draw. This easily could have gone south though. Checking behind might have been wiser.

    Hand #3 (17):
Really didn't know what to do at this point. A small bet (160 for a 480 pot) from the big stack smelled like bottom or middle pair; it seemed too weak a lead to have hit two pair. If I called and picked up a Jack on the turn, I probably would have doubled up. Then again he could have been on a flush draw and was semi-bluffing. Either way, it would not have been that important whichever I decoded to do. If I had called and nothing came on the turn I would have check-folded it away.

    Hand #4 (22)
Shoved the pair of 6s. I expected the big stack to call, but both folded. I wasn't sure if this was a good push, but it seems like the right move at the time.

    Hand #5 (33?)
I'm assuming you are talking about #33. I did indeed check it down and showed two pair As and 8s to take down the pot.

    Thanks for your input!

no prob like i said i'm in the same boat as you grinding the lower stake sngs, i'm doin ok and slowly building my BR.

i find just wait tell you have a hand and get payed off, you'll see lots of those marginal spots where you think your ahead or you think he's bluffing and most of the time your probably right but i usually lean towards letting it go, theirs so many bad players that its easy to build your stack when you hit a hand. again thats how i've been playing might nessarly be the right way, but its working for now while i'm still learnin
