Default FTOPS #1 - First hand

$216 buyin 6-max tourney, my table's 5-handed to start, blinds 10/20, 5k stacks. Very first hand, I have AhKh on the button. UTG raises to 70, I make it 240. Folds from the blinds, UTG shoves relatively quickly. wtf.

Getting 250 BB in with AK seems like a disaster. What made you think calling had any merit? I guess if it's some high stakes cash player not taking it seriously and wanting to gamble for a stack then you could think about calling.

Just figured that some dumbass who satted in (or a high stakes cash player maybe) might just push first hand for the hell of it. Of course I folded.

He proceeded to make 5 more all-in massive overbets both pre- and post-flop over the next couple hours of the tourney which made me reconsider the first hand.

    I'd fold.

FWIW since it's more or less on topic

obv we can't rule out AA/KK here so it isn't the same situation but I thought I'd post this before people start talking too much about edges.

    Good article.

Since my only reason for calling is that this guy could be a horrible donk, but only a horrible donk would shove AA/KK here, I think I have no reason to call.

PS I was amazed at the structure, are all the 200s like this? I swear I played one last FTOPS that was just their normal 3k structure, but maybe it was the 100 KO one.

I have no idea. There aren't many 216's in the series I don't think. The structure seems better than normal to me too.
