i know the difference but does making a play based on M over rule your equity sometimes? And at what point in the tournament does it make it so M is the main priority over equity?

By "making a play based on M", I take it you mean open shoving preflop when your M is low? If so, you need to take into account your fold equity as well as the equity your cards will have if you're called. Fold equity depends on a lot of factors including relative stack sizes, how loose/tight opponents are, how many players left to act, etc. |
