    Default Would you call this?

My instincts tell me it's probably a "meh" situation - call or fold is probably about equal - but I dunno. 700 person MTT (the 12500 guarantee on Full Tilt), down to 150 players. Average chip stack is about 14000. Top 72 get paid. I was just moved to this table 5 hands ago and have no stats on this guy at all - he played one prior hand and folded after the flop.

    CO (t14002)
    Button (t10088)
    SB (t19228)
    BB (t6032)
    Hero (UTG) (t11345)
    UTG+1 (t27158)
    MP1 (t5579)
    MP2 (t9395)
    MP3 (t6245)

    Hero's M: 10.80

Preflop: Hero is UTG with Q, A
    Hero raises to t1200, 1 fold, MP1 raises to t5529 (All-In), 6 folds, Hero...

Notes: It's 4330 to call here. Pot is 7800.

That's reasonable. I guess what made me uncomfortable was that AQs is the worst hand I would open UTG in this part of the tournament. With the good pot odds on offer, I don't think I can fold to a short stack I don't have a read on.

Exactly. With him having only 14xBB, he's making this move with a good variety of hands, even tho he should realize you're in EP and probably have a pretty strong hand. I've seen villain show up with A9s+, any pair in spots like this.

So, given the fact that you're getting 1.8 to 1 here on the call, and the fact that you will still have a workable 15xBB stack if you call and lose, this is pretty much a snap call. If you call and win you've got over 40xBB which adds some flexibility to your stack.
    On moving up, properly rolled:

Even if villian is shoving as tight as 88+ AQ+, your still have about 40% equity so its a clear call even against a super tight range

Pretty sure you have to call, his range likely any pair any ace.
I might have considered a shove rather than the opening raise. M around 10 is getting close to 'all in' time. The shove may well have reduced the chance of a the short stack moving in. Plus if you have already decided you will make the call before you open why give somebody the option to raise you.

    Easy call.
