I've never met an above avg student tbh, 99% of the people I've taught had too many pre-conceived notions and weren't willing to open their mind to thinking differently.

Oh this goes for golf (about 400 lifetime students) and poker (10 or so students).

Two days after my girlfriend learned that a flush beats a straight she came very close to beating Slevin in a HU SNG (lost something like AQ v A8 aipf when she was ~3:1 ahead in chips, then AK v 88 aipf when they were about even in chips). Since then, Slevin has joined GrinderSchool and Michelle (Chelle here on the forums) has been learning about poker from me. Now people are like omfg I wonder who would win now.

i'll probably start taking shots at 2/4 with $12k ish. i moved to 1/2 at $5k and felt fine about it.

edit: of course ive been running like a kenyan since moving up so that doesnt hurt.

I would put money on chelle. And yes I am a grinderschool instructor. Chelle is getting one on one coaching from a very good player, and Slevin is watching videos and learning at his own pace. I think she has a very early lead in the instruction race. But who here other than Chelle could afford the instruction she is getting. It's cost slevin less than a couple buy ins at his level to join Grinderschool and Chelle has had well over a couple grand in lessons if we were to put a price on it.


I still think Slevin will make it to a higher stake within the year. $1K on it.
