Default Def of a Donk bet

If you have and overpair OOP and you lead out is that a donk bet...or is leading out OOP with any hand just considered a donk bet?

Does it also relate to weird bet sizes?

is that a bad thing if you think you're ahead?

No donk betting isnt a BAD thing despite the name lol. Its actually probly a GOOD idea to lead into the aggressor (the PF raiser) when you think you are ahead, because theres a good chance that he might raise you.

donk betting isnt necessarily bad. against weak/tight or fit/fold players i'll do it.

i much more prefer the check-raise when i hit a hand though. i play 10NL and people seem to have an emotional attachment to the pot after they bet, and they have trouble letting go of their hands. it also lets the table know that whenever you check it doesn't necessarily mean you're waving a white flag and giving up the pot

Given how often i raise donk bets with sweet fuck all, it's probably worth doing it against regs occasionally as well, cos they just won't ever believe you
There's only one system. Bet. Lose. Borrow. Steal. Lose. Take the drugs. Lose. Prison. Death.

Yes. Often at lower levels people completely miss their flop but because it's a paired or flushed board they'll donkbet into you in the hope that you missed too and the nasty looking flop will scare you off. In these situations I often raise with air, especially if the bet is light.

Similarly when you flop a flush / trips on a paired board / etc it can be fun to light bet into an aggressor on the flop. At lower levels people are so obsessed with check calling when they flop a big hand (they think this is the height of sophisticated poker) that they never put you on a monster.

There was a hand posted today where a guy flopped a set on a flush draw board 4 ways and I thought he should donk

The problem with donkbets is that regs cbet way too much so instead of donking and making him fold, you can c/r and gain at least his cbet if he has air

but if he's going to raise your donk with air, that's the best time to do it when you're strong

I think donkbets (with powerful hands) will see a strong revival as regs begin to reduce their c-bet percentage and start raising donkbets with anything (like I already do!).
