Default Should I have bet the flop harder?

Villain is a loose player, vp 40 so far at this tourny. Had watched villain call down big pre-flop raises with Ax, and broadways, also had watched villain pre-flop raise with Ax.

villain checks, Hero bets t300, villain calls t300

    Turn: (t1575) J (2 players)
villain checks, Hero bets t765 (All-In), villain calls t765

    River: (t3105) 10 (2 players, 1 all-in)

    Total pot: t3105

After villain checks the flop, I figure he doesn't have a good hand yet, I figure I would throw out a thin value bet to entice him to draw. After he calls I think he has A 10, K 10 or AK. I figured AQ, KQ Q 10, or a set would have led into me on the flop. Turn card wasn't good for me, and I figured if he was drawing to a straight, he was going to draw for the rest of my chips. Anyways, the only hand I put him on that is beating me at the turn is AK, should I have checked behind, or did I do the right thing?

On the flop, you had about a pot sized bet remaining so I would just stick it in. Otherwise, as played, you aren't folding at any point so shoving the turn is fine. I would much rather have shoved the flop however.

And this is what gets me, my instincts are saying shove the flop, but a little voice in my head, probably from reading so many posts here, says you are just going to blow him out of the water, why not look weak and get some more chips. It was probably greediness on my part, but I wanted to hurt his stack, and didn't think he would call the all-in.

Interesting pushing AI is often interpreted as having a weak or drawing hand. If fact AI's are often called lighter for exactly this reason.

I stick AI here on the flop. The pot is almost the same size as our stack and I'm more than happy to take it down.

So all in, when all in is about a pot sized bet, isn't bad. I guess I just pick the wrong times to try things. But A's are going to get cracked every now and then, and I think I am still a little ahead of the curve with them.

Preflop is fine. Flop is a shove.

Reason being you want a PSB to make it a mistake for opponent to draw against you. As you'll have hardly anything left after a PSB, you get it all in.

Enticing someone to draw by giving them the correct odds is a mistake YOU make, and it will cause you to lose money over time.
This is not my signature. I just write this at the bottom of every post.

    Default well

well then you making him make the decsion to either fold or come over the top the mov ewas good as you dont want to ge tbeat or outr drawn slow playing is what i am trying ot say.

Only bet this small if you have a read that he will repop most cbets. 99 percent of the time this is an easy flop shove -- it's a board with two broadways that hits his range fairly well. The last thing you want is to bet small and have him peel one off only to find the board pairs or brings another face card.

definite shove...he probably would have called and hit anyway at this level. But get em all in on the flop
