    My worst hands:

Hand 1 - I missed a lot of value here. I wasn't scared of a suckout, I just didn't know what FOX was minraising with here, and I thought I could get a call from KQ, KT, or even QJ or AJ at these stakes.

Hand 6 - I lost way too much money this hand. The turn bet just looked stupid to me, like he was just trying to play back at me. After he called the flop, I should have been able to just check/fold the turn.

Hand 7 - wolfie was sitting out after the flop. I should have bet my flush draw on the turn with a chance to take down the pot.

Hand 14 - Way too aggressive since losing here really hurts my stack. I could see this if I hadn't been shoving a lot recently, but I can expect a lot of aces and maybe even kings to call me here. I'd be interested to see what SNG Wiz says here.

Hand 23 - Perhaps a bad check behind on the river, but I felt like by now, there was a decent chance that he was slowplaying a straight or that he hit another 6 on the river. With more chips or in a cash game, I might bet again, but here I liked just checking and taking down an already-good-sized pot.

    Other notable hands:

Hand 4 - I think it was good to not 2-barrel the turn... I could play AJ or KQ the same way. I think I needed to bet that river, though, after he just checked behind on the turn. My plan was to check/call.

Hand 8 - Not the best shove, but my M is getting low, I'm on the button, I have the BB covered, and this is my first shove, so I wasn't expecting to get called here very much. When I do, I think I'm quite often somewhere between 35/65 and 45/55 to win it anyways.

Hand 10 - I hate to bluff (even semi-bluff) a big portion of a short stack, but those chips were calling my name, and I felt like it's hard for a lot of limping hands to continue here. Maybe that's a bad assumption, though.

Hand 11 - This shove was close, I'm not sure how good it was. Being that we had similar-sized stacks and I haven't been shoving a lot yet, I thought he would need a pretty good hand to call me here.

Hand 12 - Another close one, but I have Mailman covered and I felt like I was ahead of his limping range.

Hand 13 - Another iffy bluff, but this time I had position, and I like to punish completers.

Hand 15 - I think it's really questionable to shove here since I'm getting called a lot, but I felt like with the money in the pot and my stack so short, an open-ender was good enough here for me to go with it. I really hated seeing two callers, but then I got lucky. Bad luck for KK and TT (flopped set) to both lose to 96o, but then maybe they shouldn't have been limping.

Hand 19 - I wanted to just take on the player with the forced all-in by myself, but I didn't want to throw away a lot of chips if UTG was limping a big hand. That flop looked like a good one to knock the other guy out of.

Hand 21 - I think it was interesting to be able to turn this hand into a stop and go against the short stack, who could have had AJ+.

Hand 22 - With the BB sitting out and the short stack SB unable to hurt me a whole lot, I don't mind felting J8s here. Comments?

Hand 24 - After I showed him what I did that with, he told me that he folded AQ. Call me crazy, but I was glad to hear that.

Hand 25 - This was the first time I raised the small blind after he completed it, and from then on he mostly folded to me in blind battles.

Hand 29 - I thought he would have to fold most of his range here with BB sitting out. I was a little worried when he called, but when he turned over KQ, I was pleasantly surprised.

I had a lot of good fortune, both to hit a big straight when I was all-in out of the money and to be able to take advantage of a player who was sitting out (but managed to get 2nd place?!). Other than a few questionable plays, I think I did reasonably well.

I disagree, I think you played the hand fine and I am very surprised you didn't get called. Considering the size of the pot, you only really put in a pot sized raise which is fine.

Raising the turn is spewing chips, once he calls your flop c-bet just give up unless you hit a Q or A on the turn.

Bleh, maybe - don't hate just checking it down though

Insta shove for me, suspect this one is unexploitable as well

I check behind on the flop with bottom pair. Obv bet the turn, and river check behind is good because your bottom pair just got counterfeited.

Firstly I ditch it preflop from UTG+1 although raising is better than limping. Other than that I think you played fine, I like the river check, if you bet and get raised you have to throw it away, if you check and he bets you can mostly call.

Read dependent on how loose/tight the blinds have been playing. Usually quite marginal I think

Tough spot here, you can spew off a lot of chips doing this but I guess it's not such a bad spot.

Insta insta shove for me. Against a tight player you can profitably shove 100% here, I'm never folding A7 here though. I suspect it's unexploitable (ie. whether he calls tight or loose it is +EV).

It's better if you've seen Mailman limp and fold to a shove previously

I usually just check it down here, the flush draw on board increases the chance you'll get called.

Don't like the shove with three opps seeing the flop, that flop is very likely to have hit one of them or given them a better OESD than you. I just check and see what happens. At least the limpers got punished!

Hand 16 (JJ) - against the big stack, no need to shove. You'll feel like an idiot if he has QQ+ or something against which you're flipping and calls. Make it 500 preflop and take it from there

Hand 17 (A5s) - don't like raising this from UTG with the big stack in the BB

Just check it and bet the flop if you hit something big. As played, don't bet the flop! Just check it down. The other alternative would be to shove back preflop or put Mailman all in. He won't call loose here.

    2 6 SB (M = 17.83; f+f+F) (between 21 and 22) - easy shove here

I shove 100% of hands in this spot. Opp's call with 55 is pretty bad

Hand is fine, but personally I never show, let them keep guessing. I would never raise/fold AQ in that spot and yes you should be glad that he folded!

Obviously you played it fine, but his call is truly dreadful.

Thanks a lot for commenting! Your advice is a huge help to me. I hope that between my play, my comments, and your comments, this post can help other people as well.

I'm glad to hear that other than a few bad plays (especially hands 6 and 15) I mostly played well. I just have a few things I'd like to talk about further.

Hand 23 - I'm not sure why I didn't realize while making my comments that my 2 pair had gotten counterfeited. I'm pretty sure I realized this in-game ("What a horrible river!"), and it was another reason that I checked behind. The only thing I disagree with is not betting bottom pairs in blind battles:

With something like 70%+ of flops not hitting an unpaired hand, I like to bet low bottom pairs heads-up like this. The flop is pretty much the only place where I can hope to get value from such a hand (from overs or draws who call me). If a better hand calls me and I improve on the turn or river, I figure to be able to get a lot of implied value there. And finally, betting once on the flop is often enough to check to a showdown, where I have a decent chance of having the best hand. If I just check the flop, I'm folding the best hand a lot of times when my opponent bets the turn on a draw or a bluff. Obviously betting the flop is heavily dependent on my opponent and how likely they are to raise me. Also, in this particular spot I feel like hands like 33-55 (set it or forget it!) or a 2 with a better kicker have to fold a lot here, but that could certainly be wrong, especially at these stakes.

If this is a leak, I'm going to have to adjust my thinking about how I play blind battles and low pairs heads-up in general.

Hand 19 - This was another case of betting a low pair. 66 is definitely ahead of the forced all-in player's range, especially on a flop like that. I also felt like I was likely ahead of Mailman at this point, so I didn't want to give him a free chance to improve on my hand. The main pot is only 30 chips anyways, and I want the side pot all to myself! In a spot like this, I check a K, bet a 9 on either the turn or the river for value (depending on whether the turn brings in any draws), bet a pocket pair, and even bet a hand like AQ. Obviously if I'm called, I just check down after that. Is that a mistake? I feel like I should protect my hand from whatever the other guy has while it's still good, or get value from someone who wants to call with a draw. On a flop with a different texture, I would play a lot differently. Preflop, yeah, I did that weird. I wanted to leave myself room to fold to a shove in case he was limping a monster, but if I was worried about that I should have just checked like you said. I guess I just wanted a better idea of where I was going to the flop without having to risk a ton of chips.

Hands 13 and 17 - The opponent in question was pretty passive preflop and postflop. He usually tended to bet if he had a hand and check otherwise, so that's why I bet hand 13. Against a stronger opponent, I agree that betting on 13 is just stupid.

On 17, I liked opening A5s because the big stack is so passive. If he reraises me anything more than a minraise, I can lay it down easily since I know he must have something bigger. If he calls, I figure to either be able to knock him out on a lot of flops or to draw cheaply to a flush or straight. I would not play top pair like it was the best hand, that's for sure.

Hand 16 - I agree that shoving JJ was pretty dumb. In the heat of the moment, I was thinking, "I can't see myself laying this hand down, so I might as well ship it in." That was pretty stupid thinking, of course.

On the 62o, I didn't realize that I should be shoving any two. I really do need to get SNG Wiz and go over some of these bubble situations. The thing is, I know the guys at this level are idiots and will call much more lightly than they should, so I'm not sure whether shoving a hand like 62o is +EV or not. Then again, if it's unexploitable it's obviously +EV.

Again, thanks a lot. I hope it doesn't sound like I'm defending my play, I would just like to further discuss a couple of these things, to talk about what makes the play good or bad.

Your logic is probably OK at higher buyins, but at a $1.20 these donks will call with any piece of that board (which beats you) not to mention missed overcards on the hope that they will hit. I am less worried about folding the best hand here when your hand is so weak and if you're called you'll have no idea whether you're ahead or behind on the turn. By betting, you are just building a bigger pot when you have a very weak hand (remember: big hands = big pots, small hands = small pots).

Plus some opps will float you one street then fire the turn if you miss and check, meaning you spewed 275 chips for nothing.

Put him AI preflop, you have already seen he is a limptard who will fold to raises, just take his dead chips now. Small-medium pocket pairs are difficult hands to play postflop if you don't hit a set but have good preflop value against most ranges.

    With that read, fair enough

Don't like this against a passive big stack. Loose/passive players will call you rather than re-raise with hands that dominate you and will often call your flop c-bets. Remember the ICM effect is very powerful when you are clashing with a fellow big stack. If the big stack was UTG and folded and you were UTG+1 then I would raise this every time though.

Not sure if it is unexploitable but download SNG Wiz and give it a go, there's a 30 day free trial. It will open your eyes! Alternatively, post the hand with stack sizes and I'll run it for you.

I ran the 62 hand and it is +EV if opp does not call wider than 50% of hands. Even if he does call wider than 50% then it is not very -EV.
